Subject: New holland ts6 120 tractor

Virginia
I'm looking at a new holland ts6 120 tractor. Has the deluxe cab with air ride seat. It seems like a nice simple tractor. Has the 16x8 dual power transmission. It's fully weighted up and is 4wd.
I like the simplicity of this machine and was wondering if anyone has experience with them. I'm going to use this to pull a batwing and probably my 6 row planter, and a 15 ft drill. Does the 4 cylinder motor have enough grunt? I'm used to 6 cylinders but looks like the newer tractors are pushing a 4 cylinder.
Any info would be appreciated

I doubt it is that much different the TS 110 except ten more HP. Similar trans. Mine is broken into groups of 4 semi-powershift. So low 1-4, 5-8. High 9-12, 13-16. Reverse 1-4, 5-8 so electric push button in ranges, manual shift w/clutch within H, or L range. It easily pulls 8 row planter, 13 drill, 4-18 plow, 18’ disc, 45’ drag 12’ chisel plow *not super deep, spike teeth on chisel plow*. I pull +26k lbs grain to town with it. *it’s working on hills, I have to drop a few gears*. 10 more hp would be nice.

completely different tractors, ts110 is more like a t6.145 than it is a ts6. The TS tractors are lower cost manual transmissions with smaller cabs. Built for a lower price point.
As for the ts6.120, the two larger hp TS6 tractors are 6.7L motors, definitely nicer but the 4 cyl in the 120 could probably be tuned higher if you need it.

Tractor data suggests his tractor would be 8 hp more than mine. The transmissions sound similar. Weights seem similar. I have liked my 110. But it was put together poorly. Bolts not tightened, tire tubs put in with valve stem crossed on BOTH rear tires. Frame getting loose, the blower fan was not installed right, $450 new one. Solenoid wires shorting because not routed correctly, pain on hood letting go in 2 years, peeling in patches year later. *with it under cover almost every night.*
It might not be the same transmission. But

I had a 7740 sle that was fwd and a loader, and a ts100 fwd and loader. The cab on the ts100 was nicer then the cab on the 7740 but the 7740 had more grunt. Both tractors had the transmission your speaking of.
The ts6 120 has a transmission just like the 8700/9700, TW'S,8600/9600 etc. Only difference the 4 gears are fully synchronized and instead of being in the floor the dual power is a rabbit/turtle button on gearshift. The ts6 120 also has a reverser on the steering column.
The cab appears to be about the size of what was on my 7740. I understand that the cab is the one off of the t4/t5 series tractor. This is supposedly the same frame size as a t6 series without the deluxe larger cab.
I thought the 2 larger models had 6 cylinder motors and maybe the earlier ones did, but the current ones all have 4 cylinder turbos. This is going by a brochure I picked up at the dealer Friday.
I used my 7740 and ts100 as loader tractors, pulled hay rakes (new holland 216) and john deere 700 and occasionally pulled batwings.
This tractors I'm going to actually work a little and just curious how a 4 cylinder does when pushing 100hp. It's roughly the same as a 4020 or a old 8000 and those old tractors had the grunt.
I'll have to admit that I admire the simplicity of this tractor as it seems to have a whole lot less electrical crap on it to go bad.

I think the ts6 series is the cheaper lighter Mexican line. Bad or good I don’t know.

I have a 6020 deluxe, use it for rock picker, batwing mowing and snowblower. Has been a very good tractor. Bought it new, has around 2400 hrs. Replaced a battery, that's about it.

My T5.120 pulls a 15' notill drill just fine. If you buy new check EVERYTHING. It was delivered with 3.6 hours and the front wheel fell off at 5 hours. Several things have come loose or tried to fall off in the first 200 hours. A/C was overcharged and quit during the first summer, battery was junk at four months which they wouldn't warranty, headlights are fogged over already but they don't help much anyway loader controls won't always go the direction you want, cab filters are way too small and $50 each. I could probably go on but these are the things that I remember right off. At almost 1000 hours I think I have the bugs worked out. With absolutely no help from CNH. I'm still trying to figure out how an overcharged a/c and battery was my fault.

+1, I purchased a new T6.160 with the 6.7L 6cyl last March of 2023 and has 400 hrs now. Had a leaky O-ring/loose hose on the joystick spool valve under the cab in a tough to reach spot, called the dealer and they came out on a Saturday to fix (I live 45 min from dealer), then a while later the a/c quit and a low pressure sensor under the seat had failed, called on Friday and again they were there on Saturday to fix. No questions asked! Very happy with the tractor and the dealer is top notch

As another poster stated, Ive had super good luck with my NH dealer. Bought a new T5-115 in 2018. In the winter of 2021 I noticed the loader didn't sit straight anymore. Measuered everthing I could think of, couldn't find a cause until I changed oil had a floodlight under the tractor. From above you could see thru the welds on the loader mount that bolts to the tractor frame. Took pics as a local machine shop removed it, pressed it back straight (40tons worth) and welded and braced it as the factory welds had basically no penetration. 3 years and 1000 hours out of warranty and NH covered the total cost. Fyi, I took delivery of a new L328 skidsteer a month ago. EVERY hose connection, bolts are marked that they have been checked. Hopefully everyone will adopt this practice!

It was my first BRAND NEW tractor I bought. Likely the last. Used seems less problems.

I’ve heard people say that before and for very valid reasons. Co-worker bought a new F-150 and the Bluetooth kept cutting in and out and dealer couldn’t fix it so he traded for a new one again, this truck wouldn’t start one morning and he had to disconnect the battery to get it going, traded that one with 8000km on it, next F-150 doesn’t have defrost so he’s been driving with a little fan clipped to his inside mirror lol, dealer can’t seem to fix it.

In my experience however everything I’ve bought nee has been excellent and while I’ve had pretty good luck with used its cost me more money in the long run and it’s super hard to find anything that’s slightly used that people didn’t run the crap out of knowing that it would get traded before warranty was up anyway.

I believe that although there are lemons most issues have to do with the dealer not doing a good PDI or going the extra mile to check/address common issues/glitches before it is delivered. My new F-150 (different dealer than co-worker of course) came with a couple page inspection report that it went through dealer shop and passed the road test before it was delivered to me and I’ve had zero issues.

We've got a TS6-130 that runs a vertical mixer everyday. It's got decent power. We've also used it on the batwing mower, manure pump and raking hay. It rides pretty rough for long days in the field because it's fairly short wheel base. We bought it as a lease return with 600 hrs. It's a 2020 model and has 1300 hrs now. We've had the dpf filter alarm go off several times. The dealer recommended not letting it idle much and running at high rpms to keep it hot enough to burn off the particulate. Overall it does it's job and is a pretty basic tractor. You're welcome to come check it out, I'm probably close to you. My email is in my profile.
