Looking at these 2 beds to put on my 23’ gmc dually. What’s your thoughts/experience on either one? I’m sure the paint is garbage on both but besides that, what’s y’all opinions. First bed is the CM and second is the Norstar.

I've had the Norstar right at 2 years and the paint is surprisingly good. The boxes seal up good and it seems to be built pretty good overall.

What’s your thoughts on the tapered front box and smaller door? Do you feel that’s dead space in that front corner?

I built a shelf in that area and keep things I don't use often in there. I could see how it would be wasted space for some people though, especially if you want to put a set of drawers in.

I plan to have a set of drawers in the drivers side but leave the passenger side open for the awkward size items. Biggest thing is just getting things organized and out of my rear floorboard. A traditional cross box is nice, but a pain to work out of. Have you had any issues with the latches on the flip up lid above the wheel well?

There is a screw that holds the latch together from the bottom side and it stripped out a couple months ago but that is it. Surprisingly it has never been feozen down.

That’s what I was concerned about. It looks like it would freeze. I appreciate the insight.

I had a Bradford on a truck years ago. Pulling a gooseneck and got out and noticed the neck was closer to the fuel tank than normal. The welds broke and twisted the c channel under the truck. So, sounds familiar.

I put a new Norstar on a new 2016 Ram. Truck was never drove in the winter. The bed started peeling after a 18 months. The corrosion came from under the powder coat. Norstar told me to pound sand. Offered a $100 gift card. I replaced it with a Hillsboro hybrid bed. Now that is a well built bed. Primered and painted. Friend has a CM that runs in the salt and his bed looked like near new with 200,000 miles mine had 50k.
