Do used grain bins usually sell this well:

Smaller bins go dirt cheap. IMO they would be better renting them.

Sickening to see how little the 36 foot bought.   I’d enthusiastically paid that for the floor alone.

That is more like I was expecting, not $3600 and $8400 for 18 footers.

When I saw that I expected it was moved, set up on your foundation w/electrical connected.

That’s also a here thing. Lots of those size bins have been hauled from your area the last few years. Not sure the transportation is really factored into the savings.

Not crazy for this area. Not my cup of tea but a lot of smaller farmers seem to save money putting up their own smaller used bins.

They didn't save a dime buying that. Maybe he thought it was $840.

Local guy said he would give $2000 for an 18 or 21 ft bin. He turns them into gazebos and installs them in backyards and parks. Says he has a hard time finding the smaller bins.

If he’s willing to give $2,000 I can’t imagine how much the final cost, after installing, is?

You would be challenged to give away an 18' bin here. But the floor, takeout and upright auger are worth something. I could see someone giving some money for those to fit an existing bin on their farm.

Yeah, the used bin parts guys ask a fortune for things like unloading augers, drying floors, fans, transistions, etc. The scrap guys aren't even interested in buying used bins, too much work for too little money right now. Hard to find anybody to take down and put up used bins, or difficult to find the jacks and find enough labor to do it yourself, in the end, most guys find out it doesn't cost much more to have a new one put up.

Can get a 5-6k bu here now for $1500, have to take down and move. I see some crazy ones that people think they're going to make a killing on for gazebo's - ie $3000 for 18'. Have 18 ft in a pile we gave $75 for plus $300 for a floor for it.

I seen lots old bins for free. Seen bins crushed for scrap. If it doesn’t hold ten thousand or more no interest.
