Got the first text at 6:50 complaining soand so isn't on my side of the fence. So and so says he is 1/4 mile (setting on some of my equipment) from where the neighbor says he is.

It's going to be a long ten days.

I love playing referee between hunters that got upset cause I said they could or couldn't hunt. Spent time putting extra locks on gates yesterday. Mainly interior gates.. love getting groups of cattle comingled that aren't supposed to be.

Simple fix, rent it out for deer hunting, lot less problems than dealing with freebie hunters. Raised the rent on mine this year another $10,000, they get $1000 rebate per Doe killed up to 10.. What people are willing to pay to hunt Deer is getting kind of ridiculous IMO

+1. Takes a while to find a good group, but we have. All our hunting is leased to them and they police everything 10x better than I ever could. Also have clearly spelled out its for hunting, not atv/utv freewheeling around. And when anyone asks, it’s leased, talk to them. $ from them covers taxes on the woods and contributes to taxes on the tillable acres

As someone who spent every morning/evening milking cows whenever I got the big chance to hunt I usually fell asleep in the tree stand. I think hunting is just like golf, gives city guys a reason to get away from their wives and spend a bunch of $ on crap they don’t need

doesn't matter in our part of the world if you rent it or not. You can rent it but still have the headaches of trespassers etc.

Didn't know my neighbors hunted in your part of the world.

This mornings deal turned out to be a group got dropped off to walk across the section that they don't have permission to be on. The pickup will drive around the neighborhood until they call him to come pick them up on the other side, pickup never sets so it's harder to catch them unless they walk into someone or someone comes up on them getting picked up.

Easy there! That one hits close to home! I’ve had to grab my coon dog before but don’t really want anyone to shoot him.
That being said I never know hat the best thing to do is, bother a neighbor in the middle of the night and piss them off for waking them up or just grab the dog and get the heck out?
I decided a few years ago to talk to surrounding property owners and tell them where I have permission to coonhumt and if my dog should come in there property may I come on to retrieve him and most say go for it.

And then there are deer hunters that use the coon dog excuse to be on your property. Of course there's no dog to shoot but they make it seem they are as frustrated as you.

I let 2 guys hunt that are buddies and hunt together , they help me time to time and i made it clear it's just the 2 of them no one else. Around here it's if you let one of the group of 12 that means they can all crawl all over the place like wild cowboys and indians. I have 2 good guys they clean up the other stuff all year long. I used to have multiple different people and had tons of trouble down to a fight involving the cops in a field over who could hunt when it was suppose to be between them. I have a strong dislike for most all hunters until they prove they're not like the rest.

Neighbor puts out no hunting signs, then crawls over my side of the fence. Pretty easy to see what goes on with a little snow.

Boy caught him walking my side so drove out in the field, they crossed over to theirs.

I am in SC so we have a much longer season. We have a problem with deer over population. After many years of politely asking in a round about way, I finally agreed to let a gentleman hunt. We laid out clear ground rules that he and his 2 children could hunt. If anyone else was found even in the vehicle with them they would be out! So far, I have been impressed with his conduct. He asked for me to walk with him and give my permission on where his stand would be located. He built a quad stand to hunt out of. Then he called and asked if he could bush hog my drive for me in exchange for his hunting. He and his children call/text me every time they are coming to let me know it will be them on the property. They will probably continue to get to hunt as long as the behavior stays the same.

Regardless of the specie or season, some "hunters" are a real pain. In the mid fifties Dad spied a brand new Ford sedan parked in front of one of our fields. He walked down to it and saw the pheasant hunters coming thru the field. He hopped up on the hood which got their attention, then rolled a cigarette and took a strike anywhere match and drew it across the hood. Left a distinctive trail after it came to life. Lit his cigarette and by now they were yelling, gesturing and running as fast as they could. He ask "who gave you permission?", they answered that the neighbors son who they worked with told them where to hunt and it was our farm. The hunters took Dad to court over the damage to their car and lost because they were trespassing. Many years ago I heard a shotgun blast on my pond, decided to see what was up. found 2 young men with a water dog hunting ducks. They thought it was "public hunting", they had driven 80 miles from decent waterfowl hunting on the St. Clair River south of Port Huron Michigan to Wildfowl Bay on Saginaw Bay for a chance a drawing for a limited number od assigned hunting areas in a state and federal game area. They didn't make the cut and were headed home when the decided to trespass.

I have a hunter that leases my other farm, he and his son, son-in-law and at least 1 grandson will hunt from bow season till late doe around Christmas. They usually take 8 to 10 deer, primarily does. I inherited him when I bought that farm, doesn't pay much but they police the property and protect their lease. Michigan does not require farmland and associated woods to be posted (non farmland and forests do require posting to prevent trespassing). He has a number of blinds and tree stands along the ditches and in the woods, non of which are nailed to any timber or potential firewood.

A ditch rat is a protected species that tears the hell out of fences, tromps crops, in general makes more work/ expenses for me.

For ten magical days (rumored to be 11)* every November it is legal to kill the things with rifles. Grown men carry on like a bunch of spoiled kids whining about someone shooting their deer or someone's stand is right on the fence, etc, etc.

Regular firearm season is only 7 days in IL, with that being a 3 day "weekend," followed by a 4 day "weekend." There is a muzzleloader only season later on. Also a late winter, anterless only, but it's not for every county.

E. CO, exactly half way between NE and OK
We let hunters hunt on us for nothing. We tell them what we expect from them concerning our property. We have a few guys that have hunted for several years and they watch any new guys that we have given permission to hunt. We have two different places that we let them park campers. When they all leave, you won't find a beer can or gum rapper that they have left behind. We tell them if we have any trouble from any of them, all of them are out. They get several deer and antelope. Some have small kids. One has a five year old boy that rides a small motorcycle on our roads and trails and has a good time out here in the country.

I have a farm that's across the Stateline, so I would have to get out of state tags to hunt it. I get bored too easily anyway, so my brother in law hunts it. When i bought it I told him to consider himself the owner when it comes to hunting it. He has full discretion on who hunts what and when. His whole family is big into hunting so they are careful on who they let in. I know it's taken care of, and it's really nice when people call wanting to hunt it I just tell them to call him. Takes the heat off me and makes someone else the A-hole. Works pretty well

Pretty good money here if you manage them. Less pain to sell to an outfitter than deal with hunters. I don’t sell em but have the deer to make good money. No one hunts but a few kids that help with cattle work.
