I was watching Arkansas state troopers . They have GPS speed on some videos . Troopers video went to 160+ one time to stay up with the car . I saw one where the trooper was in a slower charger that only went 130 and could not keep up with the car . I got interested to look it up and a special modified charger will go 202 . Texas DPS has one .

I have watched some of those videos too. All I can say is wow! Today we can buy a family sedan that will keep up with or go faster than the muscle cars of yesterday. Suspension systems and body designs on modern cars help the driver keep it in control at those speeds too.

I know a fellow , I’ll not call him a friend because I don’t associate with him except doing his work and getting a good check .
He’s my age and just basically a big rich kid . He has a 6.7 diesel ford like mine except big tires and all the stupid stuff , of course it’s deleted and has the max tune on it . He showed me GPS where it will run 140.
If a 3/4 ton 4wd diesel will run 140 , what the heck would a already fast car run . I’m guessing some will go quite a bit over 200.

My Ram 3/4 4x4 with 6.7 has seen 140(GPS speed), hit that pretty easy, just a guess, but I think it would hit 160
Guess my Ford might too then . I know it will hit 100 easy with no trailer . I’m on this program Tx has if you have no tickets it’s liscence by mail . I pretty much drive the speed limit or 5 over .
The chip removes any factory limits, ( Some Chevy's are limited to 90, or less). I was amazed at how easily it hit 140, around 1500rpm more to red line. I figured with 35's mud tires 140 was as fast as i wanted to try. LOL

IMO, the biggest difference in making cars today safer at higher speeds vs 50 years ago is the tires.

Good friend has a hellcat (jailbreak) 808 hp, top speed of 220. That thing is fast, I hit 120 in short stretch, pedal not close to the floor and still pulling hard.
New car with 1800 miles and rear tires are bald. Awesome car.

At what point does a car fly? I know the average car does not have wings and spoilers to increase down pressure. I've heard from others that drag race day that average cars will lift off the ground and fly somewhere around 120-140 mph. Not sure if that's true. At the same time sports cars and super cars have wings and spoilers to create down pressure to hold them down at higher speeds. I don't know what Arkansas troopers have for cars, but they must not be your average cop car.
A side story. About a year ago I went to the doctor's office and there was a McLaren in the parking lot. In the waiting room I quickly figured out whose it was and asked him some things about it. He said top speed was 212. I asked him how fast he had it up to. His answer, 190. Where? Right out here on I75. Was it in the dead of night? No, it was about 2 o'clock in the afternoon. After 190 why not go all the way to 212? It's amazing how fast you catch up to that car in your lane that's a mile away at 190!

I keep looking for big brother(govt) to get involved. Been hearing rumblings about it for years. New muscle cars are amazing! Have a ZL1 Camaro and it's a blast to drive but triple digits come way to fast and I need a license!

When I was young, back in the 60's, I was always more interested in the 0-60 mph time more thsn top end. About the best any of the muscle cars would do is a little over 5 seconds. Now some of the new cars, gas and electric, do it in under 2 seconds. I rode in a couple of 5 second machines and was amazed at how they would pin you back in your seat. Can't imagine what a sub 2 second car would be like.

Agent Orange: Friendly fire that keeps on burning.
Guys who have experienced the 2 second 0-60 Plaid, report that it is actually painful. The Plaid version of my Tesla is reported to do 0-60 in 2.5 but have a bit less range than the dual motor version. Both of those discouraged me from opting for the Plaid X. My X is still the fastest and quickest car I've ever driven and I haven't even tried the really quick modes that are available with a swipe of the screen. I guess I'm getting old.

deep SW On.
Speeding 40-50km.or 25-30mph. over limit (depends on hwy. posted speed) you get vehicle impounded and you walk ...also up to $10k fine + ins. increase
Seen several people sitting on there personal belongings at the side of the road looking for a ride...In Bruce Pennisula hwy. 6 is a long 2 lane hwy. heading to Tobermory Ferry, lots of speeders....Funny but sad was a pop up camper and family members all sitting on side of road as Police towed the pkp....Wonder what wife said?

I like to tell this story.
Back in the mid 80s I had not much for money but used to like the race scene. We had my pickup on the 1/4 mile track in Pueblo CO. After getting beat out in competition rounds you can run as often as you want between the competitive sessions. It's just luck of the draw who lines up beside you. So I pull up in my 15 second 80 mph pickup beside a rail car just running to figure out his tune. I'm dialed in at 15 some seconds and he's in at around 7 or 8.
I launch out to the lead and gunning her for all she's worth. A 100 feet from the finish line this blast goes past me at 200 mph! It was hilarious and scary at the same time! Haha!!
Have any of you ever been passed by a screaming car running 120mph faster than you? It's something I'll never forget.
