For those who do the dawn in the sprayer do you mix on a per acre formula or by total water volume? How much in either case?

I use the method approved by the National Bureau of Standards. Unscrew the top, invert, and squeeze 2 glugs out into the tank.

Better make it three glugs with corn chemical or veltyma /revytek. I use 20-30 oz approximately per 1000 gallon. If we are getting close to the end of spraying closer to 30. Seems like 20 oz doesn’t foam much but 30 will

25 ounces per 1000 gallon load is my starting point. Adjust as necessary, normally need a little more with atrazine.

What does it do? Do you have an oil with the atrazine?

N/M I see the discussion below.

Here Atrazine, even without oil, will make a greasy, slime on the screens. Having dual or anything oily it’s even worse. The Dawn “takes grease out of your way”. It will keep the screens much cleaner, normally only take them out when we change crops.

Ive used the 7 sec squeeze rate per 1000 gal since the late '70s. After reading ther comments on here part way thru bean post spraying I upped it to the NBS rate of 2 glugs /1,000. One thing I heave noticed is that the new rate does seem to keep the sight tube cleaner.

Towards the end.  Or you get a tank full of bubbles.

I always squirt it into our inductor with 2 gal water or so and leave it sit until the next load. So I guess it goes in first. I just do a few good squeezes though, nothing scientific.

Keeps the system cleaner with less chemical residue sticking to hoses and tanks. Also as a soap it acts as a “sticker” to adhere to plant surfaces.

Lots of weeds have a waxy surface that beads up water, soap lets the water soak into the leaf better, so it's absorbed better.

The one guy said that but that's not why most use it. It keeps the system really clean. We have totally stopped having problems with like Atrazine plugging the tips and lines. I mean zero problems it makes a lot of difference.

I first started using Dawn in the late '70s when spraying atrazine. I was having trouble with the clay in the atrazine settling outb& plugging filters & tips.,The manufacturer sent a rep out. After trying several different things and several calls to their supervisor it was suggested to try putting some Dawn in the tank. It worked & I've been using it ever since when I spray atrazine or any other clay based chemical

Besides help keeping the clay in suspension it also helps clean lines, filters, nozzle bodies, & tips. If you watch close you will also see a difference the spray pattern coming out of your tips.

Is about the right amount for a 1200 gallon tank.

Been using it for about 10 years. Didn’t do it last year. Made sure to do it this year and will forever be a dawn dish soap guy. Especially with atz.

I don’t mess with measuring it out. Just put a heavy squirt in over the top when sprayer is about full. When I’m spraying corn I go a little heavier, probably putting in 8-16 oz per 400 gallon depending on what’s being sprayed. Definitely helps with the chalky residue from Atrizine.

Been using it for at least 20 years.
I buy it thru amazon by the case of four one gallon jugs.
I don't measure...just unscrew the cap, tip it over for a few glugs per load. I'm guessing it amounts to a pint per 1000 gallons.
When mixing dry granular in the Handler, I put it in the mix cone with some water and defoamer, and set the Handler to max agitation, put the granulars in, and let it mix for a few minutes before running it into the sprayer tank.

I just had a 38 oz bottle and put a squeeze in the tank during filling every couple fills in an 800 gallon tank and and pretty much made my 38 ounces stretch 1200 acres while spraying atrazine on corn and I couldn’t believe how clean all the screens were when I got done.

I use 32 oz/ 1000 gal. When spraying corn. I don’t know for sure it helps, but i used to have a lot more plugged nozzle screens before i started using it.
Also i use branded dawn, just because i hear the generics do not work.

We’ve used many brands of concentrated dish soap with success. Been using Sam’s house brand lately, daughter gets it shipped to barn by the case in 90 ounce bottles.
