For those of you with new deere 8R tractors. Which would you rather have? active seat2 or air seat with cab suspension.

It may be a how fat are you thing.

I'm big and fat and don't like active, so i'd take air seat and cab. Kids like active.

ILS will do more for the ride than seats will.

I agree with the last part.. I have no experience with either in question. But air ride seats stink in my opinion.. I can't stand bouncing around.. plus it makes my legs numb (and I'm only 31 lol ) air always gets dumped when I get in, I ride on the seat

Skinny guys and wife, will have ILS and front duals. Not much of a price difference from cab suspension or active seat option.

I’m skinny. 6’ 145 lbs. I HATE the Active Seat in our 2010 8320R. I like sitting up in the air where I can see. The Active Seat puts me on the floor. I can air it up and 30 seconds later it dumps all the air back out and I’m back on the floor again.

We have a few new r series around and after having a couple seats without active seat in the past ,and not liking them ,when we ordered the new r series they posed us with the question you’re asking , because of not liking not having active seat on those couple older r series that didn’t have suspended cab ,it scared us into trying only one of the tractors ordered with suspended cab and non active and after having them for a year ,next time they’ll be none without active seat.I can’t understand why they won’t do suspended cab and active seat ,I’ve heard it argued around by the dealer and some of the shop guys but really nothing made any sense to me ,I’d like both. The suspended cab and non active seat ,the seat moves around all the time and when you’re used to the active seat not moving around all the time you notice it ,we like active better ,everyone that drives them here says same thing .

This is similar to ford vs Chevy vs ram , be a lot of personal opinions,I notice in the video below by Sheuerman farms it shows field use better with ils and active and road use they like iLs and suspended, we certainly don’t road much here so could sway our opinions,we’ve had all ils since 8520 days and sure like that feature either way.

Any other options you wish you had, or wouldn't go without on the new ones? Anything you don't like?

Hard to go by us as the area I farm in has zero end rows and as tight of headland as can possibly have because every sq ft we farm is precision leveled and furrow irrigated and makes turning around on every end a stop ,backup, turn square up in the tall beds that are there 365 every year, and take off again, that makes us like things that are different where everyone goes constantly forward most all day ,everything we do here is 3 pt mounted unless we’re doing field leveling

Cloth over leather.

Not a fan of JD leather.

100%. I do like the leather steering wheel, but the cloth seat is better on my sitter!

Active seats can get into fights with active cab suspension. It is difficult to make the two sytems talk to each other well. Basically the cab might think you need to drop suspension while the seat thinks you need to raise it, and the end result is worse than either system on its own. There's too many things moving in the system. I've seen studies showing that result before, but they are probably 15 years old at this point.

Went from a agco brand suspended axle, suspended cab and high end seat, to a 8430 with ils and active seat. Ils and active seat is better. When you have all 3 it's as though they start to fight each other, or every component accentuates the bumps. At least with the cab bolted down the seat can do its job.

+1 we went from two challengers with suspended straight axle and suspended cabs to two 8r370 ils and active seat no cab suspension. Deere rides way better not even comparable to agco. I don’t see the need for suspended cab the way ours are set up, but this is the only option we had if we wanted new tractors so I did not get to drive a suspended cab version.
I do a lot of work at 12 mph and think ils, active seat and fixed cab rides great.

I see a lot of groaning on here about active seat, I did not have Deeres before the 8r series, so I don’t know how this active seat compares to the old r series active seat. The active seat in these 8r work great other than the operator presence sensor.

Mine are leather heated and cooled, power everything. Adjustability is great. Massage feature isn’t really worth it IMO

We have ILS and active seat. Very happy with it. Deere recommends the cab suspension more for transport situations from what I can tell.

we demoed one with an active seat with ILS, but have not tried the cab suspension. The one we demoed was so smooth. My guess is that their is no reason for the cab suspension when the cab is already that smooth. If I was buying right now, I would take the active seat, and no cab suspension. I almost forgot to add that if you want it a little smoother, put some IF or VF tires on. The lower pressure can help a bunch also.
