Subject: John Deere 7000 8 Row Marker Upgrade

NW Iowa
I'm looking at ideas or plans or anything to either design "tri-fold" or "flat fold" markers for my 8 row 38" planter. Its a manual fold style style platnter. I also want the markers i build to be independent. Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

Mine are Kelderman, Oskaloosa Iowa. But there are many small welding shops that make folding marker for 7000 planters and many other models. Bauer of Paton Iowa made a good many before he signed on with Deere. He still has them on his website.

The set that are now on my White planter were on a Deere 7000 12x30 from 1990 until 2003. I bet I could put them on your 8x38 in about an hour.

They will be indepentent of the planter raise and lower. Will need there own SCV outlet, 2-way.

The black paint is kelderman, green is the Deere outer ends.

Pretty happy with the White planters.

Ran a 7000 12x 30 from 1982 thru 2002. 694AN and 1250 before.
White 5100 2003 - 2007. Soybeans in 2004 thru 20007 with a 15 row 16” made from the 7000. Both corn and soybeans in 2009 with the White 6180. I didn’t farm in 2008.

Likes:
Out of the factory they will plant as good or better than the others that have the mods with Precession or E-sets, etc. That is my opinion, others will vary I am sure.

No talc or graphite.

This could be a big one. Very low hydraulic oil requirement to run the fan. Generally a gallon a minute.
I have ran mine off the tractor hydraulic with a White 2-105 and a Deere 4630. With the Deere two years ago there was some loss in air pressure when the planter and markers were raise or lowered. Not enough to loss seeds from the disks. But after a new rebuilt pump in the 4630 there was only a small loss in pressure this year.
With the White there was never a loss in pressure unless the engine was slowed way down.
In defense of the 4630 I only run about 1350 rpm and have Rawson drive using oil flow.

Dislikes:
Harder to shut off a row than a Deere 7000

Harder to get the unused seed out of the unit.

Can’t plant without lids. This is a real PIA for finishing up.

Not a problem now with the Rawson Drive, but I sure did not like to change tranny setting. Not as easy as a 7000.

I sure disliked the older White 5100 when filling up with bulk beans. Small opening, just not as easy as a 7000. The 6000 series is much better, but not quite as nice as a 7000. I had a little problem with the White 6180 lids. But if my hand was not messed up I doubt if I would have noticed.

If my White dealer sees the next comment, or any dealer for that matter, they may not like it.
You can look in the Shoup book and just about build a Deere 7000 unit. For the White not as much offered.

And to finish up. If you have a White planter dealer that you get along with good, they are a good machine.

There is a good reason for that.

With a White you don't need to buy near as many parts and not nearly as often.

What doesn't Shoup carry that would be considered a normal wear item besides the brushes for the meter?
