Lots of Oliver 1855 Help on Yesterdays Tractors The Oliver Forum. Lots of improvements been made to those engines in the past many years.

Edit;; many years ago I think my uncle ,who rebuilt engines stamped the crankshaft when he turned a crankshaft, .10, .0.20 or .0.30... I’m thinking he never turned a crankshaft more than 0.30’ s. The rod and mains should be marked on the backside too.

Unless I am missing something , the old bearing should have the size stamped on them.

As a rule, the backside of each bearing shell will be stamped STD or .010" .020" etc.

If you’re rebuilding the engine you really need to mic the crank journals. Even if you know what bearings came out, the crank probably has some wear and may need to be turned. Take the rotating assembly to a good machine shop, have them check everything and they can order your bearings.

how did you get the pistons out and leave the rods on the crank

if the rods are out spin out a bearing and see what is stamped on the back

some people hate "plastigauge " some live by it
will show the wear on the rod surface
then take out a main cap just one at a time

and check what is stamped on them

Also while you are doing this, make sure the rod cap bolt holes are chamfered. This has put many a mechanic in a tough spot after the work was completed. In fact that is why many Waukesha engines became ventilated.
