NW Ohio
Just curious if anyone has ever replaced the 855 that is in any of the Case IH four wheel drives with the 1150? Will it even fit? Just curious if it can be done or if anyone has ever done it.
Don't need a new motor yet but just wondering for future reference.
Thanks.

Have you ever priced a kt? Or parts for one? I would almost bet $100 you could completely rebuild an 855 for what you would pay for a kt engine.......

KtA is quite a bit longer , way expensive to run versus the 855 . If I had a choice it’d be a mech N14 .
KTA could be had with a no 1 sae bell housing so I’d guess the rear end would bolt up.

15k 15 years ago to rebuild just the heads on an 1150. I'm guessing its double now, or in the range of a decent used 1150.

I can get measurements for you if you want, I've got a couple

55 long, 50 tall, 15 front of radiator to pulleys. 40 wide.

Roughly anyways.

KTA weighs almost 2x of a 855 and is much larger. As stated KTAs are significantly more expensive then 855s. Unless you have a need for 450hp+ a 855 or N14 is the most economical solution.

Guys around here actually replace KTs with 855s or newer engines because of cost of the KT. Also I don’t know how much the size difference is because I swore somewhere in my old truck magazines Cummins advertised the KT had the same length as the 855 between the front cover and bell housing. Course the KT would be taller. They did use these engines in semis.

The base tractor is Tiger 470. Cab and hood came off 9170. Hood had to be made bigger to ,make work. So you were pretty close as it looks like an overgrown 9000 series CIH when you seen it. Thought he might get it out of the shop this fall, but looks like it won't get finished till this winter now. Will be green when it gets done.

Would the powershift transmission hold up to that much power? Due to parts availability, you definitely don’t want the manual tranny.

The most power I’ve seen in front of the Fuji/Twin Disc type tranny was 425 hp, at least from the factory. Deere 9400s and Versatile 2425s. Not for sure if Case ever used a powershift in the 9390s.

Also, could the axles take 525-600 hp long term?

Versatile put the 1407 Twin Disc into the 435 for awhile before they switched to the Cat TA22.

I think you'd be asking for trouble putting a KT 1150 in there, for all the above reasons.
