Subject: Dealing on pickups

I am probably going to look at a new pick up Monday. Dealer has one on the lot I would like. Question is, was a shortage of new vehicle, can you deal with the salesman or is it their way or the highway?

Kentucky

It's sticker price, take it or leave it here ... if you can find a truck.  Of course you can find a Ford at the Kentucky Speedway near Cincinnati if you don't mind waiting for parts.  LOL

I hear the chip shortage is close to being resolved, if not already, and those will be shipping out in two to three weeks, it’ll be interesting to see if that comes true.

WY, OK
Half tons you can get below MSRP still. 3/4/One tons, and especially duallies, you are
looking at MSRP plus a bunch.

Must you buy this week? Month? Deals will be harder to get, likely not as much. But each salesman wants to make a sale. The sales manager will not give him as much freedom with price. But you still are the buyer.
If you know exactly what you want, must be new... widen your search area. I have driven 300 miles to save $2000 (in past, not during current)
Sadly hinting you have funds to buy strait out is often a negative now.

Just sold my old 2002 7.3 for $21k so I’d say the market is strong. I wouldn’t expect them to negotiate very much if they’re willing to at all.

Wife made a career change and in process we had to give up her company vehicle, forced us into buying something in the current timeframe. Be bought a Chevy 1500 3.0 Duramax at $4500 under msrp a week ago. That was “factory incentives”. Spoke with 2-3 dealers and that was pretty much the story at all 3 of them. Had one dealer in Minneapolis quote better but they wouldn’t let a salesman ink the deal until vehicle was sitting on their lot. Once vehicle was on the lot it was whoever could get their first to sign paperwork. We are 200 miles from Minneapolis, didn’t feel like playing that game.
