How many of you use Montezuma triangles on the back your flatbeds? Considering investing in one. Any pros/cons or other brand recommendation?

I've been browsing through their website at the different sizes: https://www.montezumastorage.com/

Mine just stays in the shop as I needed a big organizer for all the sockets - diff sizes plus sae and metric. Great boxes.

I REALLY like mine, however, you also need a regular slider to go with it. I made a rack so the two nest together on the tool truck. On bottom I have three sliders for random "this and that". On top is the Montezuma which carries 75% for everything else. Nice and organized.

There is no way in Hades that the quality has not been affected.
Still might be good enough, though.

I thought they have been chinese for 10+ years?

I think the way to tell is if it has a handle in the lid versus the snap latches on each side.

The American ones also had individual round pegs welded to the frame, the chinese has a laser cut flat piece that each prong is bent 90 degrees into position, and it behaves like a leaf spring and flings wrenches everywhere.

Have one but I like the looks of the Baumbox better, kinda the same concept but 48" wide with drawers on the side and built in the US.

Cliff that looks like it might not be as tall? My Montezuma is awful close when pulling a livestock trailer. There's a dent in the lid to prove it.

I priced one couple months ago was approximately $1700. Not saying it’s not worth it I just couldn’t justify that felt if I was going to spend that much it’d be better put toward a low profile service body.

I don't really care for the smaller sized boxed. If you get much more than box end wrenches and some sockets on the pegs it gets hard to get things out of the box. I think the larger box would likely solve this problem through.

I have two, one for standard and one for metric. I like the ones with the top that slides over to lock it open, the one I have with the strut seems like it always needs a new gas strut.

I’m too cheap for them. I got a cross bed toolbox, put a board across the back and put all the socket trays on that. So I have everything deep/shallow,sae/metric,1/4 3/8 1/2. I have a pair of canvas wrench rolls. Then I got little Rubbermaid containers, 1 has socket adapters/extensions/oddballs/swivels. 1 is full of pliers, 1 is full of screwdrivers. A little one has all my nut drivers. I have a tackle box type container that has my electrical tools. I’ve also got tap/die set, drill bits, tape measures, punch set, pry bars, hammers. Little sheet metal screw assortment kit, grease fittings, electrical connectors, and a half dozen rolls of wire in different gauges/colors. It’s all been reorganized a few times to fit but it all fits nice and plenty of room for more. I got the box for free, had to spend $20 on new latches though. I got a square box with all my cordless tools and a few other things.

We have 2 of them mounted on two different flatbeds. I really like the boxes, everything stays dry and organized. I took a paint pen and wrote the wrench size right above each wrench, so it's easy to get the right wrench quickly. Our's are mounted on the front of the bed on the drivers side, which if you drive with your window down on rough ground you get to listen to the wrench's hitting each other and the box. Honestly I have gotten use to that because I don't really notice it anymore, it was just different at first. One other thing, if you get a rain, then the temperature drops below freezing the handle that opens the box can become froze down. I've never tried real hard to pry the handle open because I was afraid I might break it. When that happen's we pull the truck in the shop, or take a heat gun to the handle.

When I worked at the dealership, a lot of the techs started with a big Montezuma box on the service truck. As time and money allowed, they slowly converted to the Snap On Road chest. I think Snap On sells the protective frame that doubles as a fork lift compatible so box is easily removed. If you have some time to get the box, there is always some tech school dropouts needing some money and will sell them for $1500-1800 or ?.

I think they were after a little more dust and watertight box with more storage capacity. I currently use one also and was acquired in the same way.

I'm partial to my Spring Creek Hurricane box.  No gas strut to give out and drop the lid on my head, and in the four years I've had it it's been a great box.  I had to silicone the latch seal about a year ago as it started to leak during heavy rain a little, but aside from that, zero issue. It's been outside 365 days a year for four years, zero rust and the paint is just beginning to fade a little.

I bought the Montezuma that has pegs for both standard and metric wrenches.  I hate it.  Not enough room of anything else. Holes too big for screwdrivers. When you go to grab tools out of the back/bottom part you end up pulling bottom row of sockets off.  Finally got fed up with it after few years and now have a Baum Box on the way.
