How would you figure bushels for a grain box? Would you figure bushels as level full like water? Would that be equal to filling to top of tarp bowes?

(Length x width x height )/1.25 of the box,,, so level full will get you the VOLUMETRIC bushels in the box. Full practical purposes I'd knock 6" off the height , to come up with a usable number,

That's the way I figure bushels. Peaked on 6" bows, I thought might be equal to level full.

Yes, level is a good way to figure, then you have a peak in the middle and a little down on the edges. I measure in inches length x width x height divided by 2150 (cubic inches per bushel).

I think those math equations will get you 56 lb. bushels.

Which is fine with me - that way if you have heavy test weight corn, you actually end up with more bushels than you figured on. Kind of a nice surprise to have "extra" corn left after you thought you were all sold out...

The LxWxH/1.25 calculation gets you actual bushels, regardless of test weight, or type of crop. Bushels are a measure of VOLUME. We are NAT have this conversation at least semi- annually , but some folks ( no offence intended) still don't get . :-(

Are you talking about a bushel of potato chips, or a bushel of oats or a bushel of wheat or a bushel of apples. Regardless , you measure width x length x height and get your cubic feet. Then you need to know what your product weighs. eg, 8x20x4 =640 cubic feet. Wheat weighs approx 48 lbs/cubic foot. So you got 30,720 lbs of wheat. Divide that by 60 pounds per bushel...512 bushels of wheat.

The bushel by measurement is a given volume(8 gallons). A bushel by legal weight and legal volume wont always agree on amounts of volume with different test weights and density of the product.. You can put 60 lbs of wheat in a bushel basket and if its light testing wheat it wont fit. And if it heavy wheat, the bushel basket wont get full. We sell wheat grains by the bushel based on 60 lbs . Oats is 32 lbs,56 lbs for corn I believe.

North Central OH
Cubic feet X 0.8 will get you close, refiguire with test weight from there if you desire.
