Subject: Skid Steer Tires


What is the best skid steer tire? Mainly for snow removal, but some dirt work too. I have the standard lug tire now, but have seen a lot of skidders with the more truck like lug. Want something that will be good in different conditions. Just curious to see what is NAT approved! TIA

Michelin Bibsteel radials, will run circles around a bias ply tires in snow. Have 750 hours on ours and they look like they should last 4,000+ hours.

North Central OH		If you aren't dealing with mud you could go to a truck/non bar style tread and probably get more life. We have never tried non bar style do to the conditions we run in. Best tires we have found are the Michelin's, pricey but we are on pace to get twice the normal life out of them. Going 1,000+ hours on a set, should go a 1,000 more, zero flats in that time frame. They come in both tread patterns.

northeastern Ohio		I like the Galaxy Muddy Buddy tires. Super deep tread. I have them on three skid loaders, but don't have a ton of hours on them yet. The only disadvantage is that they tear up the yard, but they get good traction. I think the last 10x16 I bought were $215 each.

sw corner ia.		the last thing I want on a loader is radial tires, I put a set of these on mine quite a while back and they seem to reject the thorns enough I don't have flats-

Don't know why you wouldn't want radials, they are better than bias ply in every way except up front cost.

Solideal skz are cost efficient and wear very well. Great on everything but mud. At least twice the life of a standard lug skid steer tire.

I have run skz ha for several years .skz ha is discontinued
Thumbs up two to three times life of a conventional skid loader tire

S.C. Wisconsin		I hate paying the price but we just worn out a set of Michelins on our Cat skid loader and they lasted double the hours of other tires, plus they ride better and I don't remember fixing any flats on them. Needless to say we are buying them again.

Wi		Bibsteel Radials are the best by far. Walk in price will give you a heart attack, but still pencil out if you run a lot of hours and/or need the performance. You can get them for nearly half with an advantage account, free to setup and worth it for the deals on all Michelins.

The Bibsteels ride quality is like installing an air ride seat, traction is great, puncture resistance is phenomenal (so much so that I'll only keep Tweels on one machine) and wear life beats anything, not to mention the even square wear versus center based wear of bias.

The couple sets of 12" we have worn out last over 2500hrs. Just recapped a set with Mongo 45/32 tread to see how they fair.

SE South Dakota/ SW Minnesota		Just put a set of bib steels on and they are the real deal. Ride is noticeably better, traction is fantastic, and the skid steer doesn't hop turning on concrete. Price was painful but worth it.

South-central Nebraska		I have NOT been impressed with Titans. They are very soft. Ours have worn quickly and get deep scuffs and cuts easily. Maybe they did not cure long enough?
