Is there a market for this motor? Or is it just to odd ball to fit in anything. I have one in a scrap 4400 combine with less than 2400 hours on it and seems a shame to scrap it. I think its only other use is a 4030.

I had one in a 6600 combine. Not a huge power house but quite fuel efficient.

Used in a lot of things. Not a great engine, but don't scrap it. If it runs, it's worth much more than scrap. Same engine family as a 359, 414, 6.8L and maybe a few more.

Yes sir those little 329s will wear a combine out., get removed and then pump water for another 7 or 8000 hours. Certainly not "great" engines.

Yeah ours in a 2840 didn't even make it 30 years untouched. I guess 29 years and 10,000 hours just isn't that great.

Those sleepy little 6 bangers are like the 7.3 IDI diesel in Ford pickups, not enough umph to ever hurt themselves.

We have a 2840 with over 16,000 hours on it. Also had 2 6600s. One left on it's own power, the other did not. I didn't mean they are bad engines, but not as good as Waterloo engines. Their short stroke makes them hard to start, and low on torque, but easy on fuel.

My dad made several irrigation power units out of 329s several years ago.

If it were closer, I'd cut it  out the combine, with the radiator, and sell it as an irrigation engine.

You don't happen to know where some 782 pickers are do you?  I have a couple sold for irrigation engines if I could find them.

782 & 782 s2 are practally gone. Marjorty of them went to power units and rest for scrap iron. The series 2 engines made great power units.

Have one in a 3130 and wouldn't trade it on a newer Deere 4cyl tractor.

I've got one I took out of a 6600 combine I scrapped a couple years ago. I kept the engine thinking I would use it for something one day. So far, it's just sitting in the shed under a tarp.

This is a long shot, but to the original poster, do you still have the engine?

I sold the engine. The guy put it in a skidder and has since decided he needs more power. The skidder had a 414 in it originally. He has recently decided to purchase my 404 with a turbo to put in it instead. He asked me if I would trade him back. I think Colorado is a little far away though.
