Subject: ATV mud tire

Nebraska, The land of corn and cattle

Right now were fighting some really bad mud and Im looking for a really aggressive mud tire for our AC 500. We can barely get around now and theres a lot of snow left to melt. Were getting close to calving and we cant be getting stuck. Whats a good but fairly cheap tire? The regular tires are still good but just aren't aggressive enough in this deep mud. So we will be getting a separate set of rims to mount them on.

I had some 589 MT on my AC 454 and they would go anywhere. They were heavy though. They were a bar tire with 1.25" tall tread.

Dirt devils have been pretty good here. Not the crazy deep lug swamper types some run but they last pretty good and get a good bite.

These are heavy duty and pretty cheap.
http://www.yournexttire.com/new-tire-25-10-00-12-innova-mud-gear-6-...

Search on Amazon and you will find great deals on tires and can get them already mounted in package deals. Aftermarket rims can be cheaper than stock rims unless you already have the rims.

I would advise to get as tall of a tire that will fit on your ATV if you have low enough gearing to pull them. Every 4x4 ATV that I have been on will go until the frame is dragging.....even with pretty bald tires.

These look good too, but they don't show the rim size for them. They look like the Titan 589 that I used to run.

Not sure how much your willing to spend, but if you want a tire to take you anywhere, I'd recommend a highlifter outlaw. Not to friendly on a hard surface, but they will grab traction and pull!

Not being stuck is sometimes worth the money for those better tires!!!

I saw a photo the other day that showed tires with about 4 inch high paddles like rice tires.

I had some 27" ITP's on my Rhino but cannot keep the sidewalls in them. They start to bubble and leak. I like the traction but could not get a year out of the sidewalls.

I put on some 26's of a different brand but miss the grip in the mud.

+1 Mud light XTR

Really like the way they bite and clean out, also ride is better than some other mud tires i have tried. And still smooth to ride at 50 MPH

+1 on mud lites. Excellent in mud and on road. I get 10,000+ miles out of them. Currently have a Suzuki king quad with 23,000 miles on second set, and Polaris ranger with 6,200 miles on them.

Maxxis Zillas hands down. They are the lightest mud tire on the market.

Bighorn tires seam to be the best all round tires here, mud snow or dirt. I have tried a bunch of mud tires and big horns seam just as good unless you are wanting to throw mud a long ways, then you will need more power than a 500 cat to do it.

I vote for the Bighorn...not the 2.0. Bighorns are radial, with several ply compared to factory tires, but not excessively heavy.

I had the Bighorns once, they were terrible in the mud because they would not clean out very well. I have had best luck with the 589's and ITP terracross.

I run these for mud on my Ranger with 3" lift. Highly recomended by off roaders in mud. Deep tread with open lugs that extend beyond the side walls make a premium mud tire.

Kenda executioners. Be the last tire you buy for any quad. They wear like iron and great traction in mud and snow.

589's are good tires wear like iron. I run zilla's on my bike right now. Mudlite xtr my friend had trouble with them after only 1000 miles or so I have over 6000 on my zilla's. It depends what you call mud for what tire you need. A dirt devil won't go through any serious mud. If you want to go crazy the silverback or outlaw or outlaw radial or terminator would be at the top of the serious mudders list.

Boys, and Men around here have any tire imaginable in mud. If you want to break a bike, put outlaws, silver backs or juggernauts on it.

Lately, one of the more popular had been the Interforce. It is an ag style tire, reasonable and rides well. Beyond that I'd recommend terminators. or the less aggressive intimidator.
