Subject: 1980's T.V. custom harvesting movie?

NWWI
I am looking for a movie that my dad and I watched together as a
kid, I think around 1984- 85. It was about a custom harvesting family and JD 95 combines and then the family split up and towards the end of the movie they reconciled and a fleet of TITAN I I combines roll in to save the day. I don't know/ remember much more about it, but thought it was the coolest movie at the time, and now that my dad has been gone for 23 years now,and my son, who is named after "grandpa" is turning 8 soon I would love to try to find this movie to own/watch with him. I figured here someone may remember the name of this movie to help me find it. I know it was on either NBC, CBS or ABC, because those were the only 3 channels we got back then! TIA

Google it, and you can get it on DVD if you so like. Don't do Netflix, but maybe they have it?

Netflix canada version doesn't have race against the harvest. We bought a VCR version of it in Amazon a few years back.

I'm thinking that was "Country", the one with the tornado.

You are thinking of the scene in Amber Waves with pretty boy male model Kurt Russell when he is in the truck shoveling. Me too, that is the scene I remember best. He must have learned very fast, as a few scenes later he was the combine operator that saved the day when Dennis Weaver had health issues

I can't remember the name of the movie but I believe Wayne Rogers was the lead actor. As I recall it was pretty cheesy.

Which movie was it that it was raining so hard that you couldn't hardly see out the pickup window BUT the combines were still cutting wheat? Also, was it the same movie where the "Boss" drove the pickup acrossed the standing wheat field to get to one of the machines that had quit?......Hummmmmm, must have been fire retardant wheat!

I remember this one with Wayne Rogers (Trapper John), but I thought that movie had Gleaners in it and a tornado at the end. I remember slapping my forehead as I was shaking it side to side. Extremely cheesy movie.

Wayne Rogers was in the one with the old 95's and the new 8820 TII's. The one I remember with Gleaners was Country with Sam Shepard and Jessica Lange. I have yet to see a farm movie that really did farmers and agriculture in general any justice.

The Gleaners belonged to the "bad guy" in the movie. Wayne Rogers' character (the "good guy") ran JD.

Race against harvest AKA American Harvest, can get it on Amazon for about 25 bucks. Bought one for my father last Christmas. Just make sure it is an All-region disk so it will play in American DVD players.

Wasn't it called Bitter Harvest was it? I remember watching it in ag class to illustrate the importance of getting a written contract in any business deal.

Frederick, Md
Bitter harvest was the one of the dairy farmer who had a batch of feed that was affecting his cows. He ended up digging a big hole and running the cows in it and invited all the neighbors over and they shot em all.
