I have a grizzly and just put a new belt on at 7000 miles and probably would have gone another 2000+ but was recommended. I have no experience with the rhino but have always heard that Yamaha has the best belt system there is and was the first. The only draw back to mine is gas use but it is a 660. I would buy a Yamaha before a Polaris. What I have seen out of the Polaris has not been good.

I've had better luck with my yamaha products over my hondas - if that amounts to anything.

A 450 cc you sure? might be a bit under powered but you always got low gear.

Great machine. Have had mine since 2007. It's a 450. Checks cows, pulls hedge post, builds fence, and everything in between. Mine pry has 7000 miles. Wheel bearing have bin the only problem I have had. The Rhino has a great ride as well

I've had Yamaha four wheelers for years and love them. They just don't die. The current one is 15 years old and replaced a 13-year-old machine. Got a Rhino when they first came out and absolutely despised the machine. Incredibly loud and nothing but engine problems. Somewhere along the way, they lost their lawsuit and had to put the ridiculous knee-high side doors on to keep you from falling out. Easy enough to take off to keep from tripping over them when getting on and off for fencing, but each service trip back to the dealer meant they had to put them back on before it could leave again. Someone traded off a Polaris Ranger on one of my last service trips back with the Rhino and the Ranger went home with me instead.

The Viking may be a totally different story, but you couldn't pay me enough to take a Rhino again. My dealer sells Polaris and Yamaha and rarely stocks anything from Yamaha anymore. It sounded like the Rhino caused a lot of problems in the factory rep food chain at Yamaha.

My son has a Yamaha 700 Rhino and I have a Polaris Ranger, there is no comparison in my opinion. Rhino is loud, rough, and slow. Bucket seats mean only two persons in it as compared to three across seating in the Ranger or two people with room for "junk" with you. I would find a Ranger if I were looking for one.

I would recomend a ranger. I have an older (05-6ish) 500 with 2900 hours on it, dosent have an odometer but figure at an average of 10mph over its life thats close to 30,000 miles on it. this thing runs like new, dosent use any oil, and has never had any problems, and yes it gets worked. very good on gas too seems i can run around all week on a tank. and i also agree with what an above poster said about the seat, bench seat lots of room and easy to slide in and out of. friend has a rhino and its a pia to get in and out of with the buckets

Add me to the list of Rhino haters. When my dad retired he wanted to buy a UTV by my recommendation, like many others, I thought the Rhino would be perfect. Boy was I wrong! The half doors are a joke, they always sag. The cheesy over priced bungee cords to shut the doors break. They are noisy. The air intake is in the cab between the seats. The whole engine gets covered in dust. Engine access is terrible. You have to pull both seats then, wrestle the center console over the shifter and parking Brake levers. To top it off, it uses oil at 2,000 miles!

I'm ready to dig a hole and, bury it with the payloader.

In my area Rangers outnumber all others 10 to 1. We do have a very good Polaris dealer. All the guys I work cattle with have Rangers. I have a Gator 620i it gets the job done but is no match for a Ranger.
