| changed transmission and rear end oil on ac 6080-hired man filled up rear end, but not transmission chamber ( result-no oil in transmission case ). i had ran the tractor a couple of times since then, but for only short periods and nothing happened. today was spreading manure and about the third load out in the field i clutched to change gears. this caused the tractor to come to a hard stop ( as if the brakes had been left on ). i checked to make sure the brake situation was ok. after that i couldn't even let up on the clutch with the transmission in neutral-if i tried the engine would lug down as if i was trying to start out in road gear from a dead stop. eventually i discovered there was no oil in the transmission case. i filled it up and let the tractor sit ( hoping for a cool down/miracoulous recovery ). what should be my next move if i still have problems in the morning?? can i tow it or just call the dealer? any suggestions appreciated. |

Hagen Brothers farms,Goodrich ND | If it is a constant mesh transmission like I suspect, it likely has one or more gears seized on a transmission shaft. Likely you will not be able to drive or tow it. |

SEIL | Ive seen this happen to two other people. There is a planetary gear set for the lmh range shift that is the first to go.Tractor will need split. |

Princeton, MN | Hate to say it, but you are most likely going to have to stick a large amount of cash into this machine to get it going again, depending on what is all bad in it. The last time we had one in the shop was a very long time ago. It smoked the planetary set from lack of changing oil and I dont remember the cost, but it was exorbitantly high, even with used parts.
Good luck |
