Purchased an ez steer 500 this winter and have used it a little so far and LOVE it. It will work on hundreds of tractors both old and new.

Raven Cruiser w/ Ontrac 2 steering controller. Have an Ontrac 2 on my Jeep for spreading clover, works great, very quiet and easy to tune in. Will mount on almost any implement steering wheel.

I second the Ontrack 2. Either with the ATC or Envizio Pro. Slick unit from AutoFarm and Raven.

The bracket for the Magnum works fine on the 5X88 series.  Ez-guide 500 works like a charm.

I would like to try an ez steer on a 3588 as well. Here is a pic of my steering column. What bracket will I need, or which one will be the closest to modify to fit?

I would also like to know where the ez steer would mount. I am planning to put my planter monitors directly to the right of the throttle (the right lever). I don't want to have to change brackets around after getting an ezsteer.

Thanks

I am just guesing by looking at pictures, but it looks like a 4100110-02 (designed for 7100's, 7200's, 8900's and Magnum tractors) or a 4100110-24 (designed for CIH XX94's & XX96's) bracket may work. However they would clamp around the telescoping knob at the bottom of your steering wheel. The Ez-Steer would set at about the 2 o'clock position on your steering wheel. I could not find a bracket that would attach around that narrow of a shaft, however I am sure one could be modified to do so if you did not want to attach to the telescoping knob.

EZ Steer Brackets:

International Harvester
Hydro, xx86, 3x88, 5x88 (rigid steering column)
Hydro 186, 886, 986, 1086, 1486, 1586, 3088, 3288, 3688 (rigid steering column), 3488 Hydro (rigid steering column), 5088, 5288, 5488 (rigid steering column)
53059-25

International Harvester
3x88, 5x88 (tilt steering column)
3088, 3288, 3488, 5088, 5288, 5488

These brackets have come out fairly recent, should do the trick although I personally have never installed one.

After seeing the pic I would recommend the SmartSteer from Raven or OnTrac2 both of them would fit nicely around the column and mount on the steering wheel. Also they would not interfere with the throttle or any other items in the cab.

I tried an Ez Steer in my 3788, the steering was too stiff and the Ez steer kept kicking off.
there is no bracket for an ugly tractor, so I made one.. the 2 screws just above the steering wheel. I took out, made a bracket the went there using the screws to hold it. used a flat piece of metal, welded a short piece of pipe to it, then screwed it in place..

*don't buy an ez steer, until you know it will work on an ugly tractor*

My 3588 steering seems to be pretty easy, maybe not as easy as the spra coupe, but not too bad.

I just called a dealer for raven who thought the smart track wasn't even out yet. Is he behind the times?

In the pic, it is important to note that the entire column rotates when the wheel is turned, nothing stays stationary.

I have been talking to dealers about demo'ing or buying an ez steer system on the condition that it must work on the 2+2. No one wants to take me up on that offer.

The poor customer service that I have experienced in the last two years makes me want to become a GPS equipment dealer as well. I couldn't do any worse.

At least the noise in your cab is probably loud enough to help drown out the beeping noise from that planter monitor. I've got the same monitor on my planter that is for sale, and I have a shop towel folded and duct taped over the bottom beeper to keep my sanity as I turn the machine around.

How are you running the harnesses out of the cab? My machine has a spot on the left step, but my harnesses aren't long enough to use it. So I cut a 2" hole behind the seat.

The Raven Smart Steer was due out March 6th. They had a small problem with an internal belt. They are trying to fix the problem before they ship out a bunch of them. The last I had heard was April 1st. I am looking forward to trying one myself.

We put Trimble Autopilot on a 1486 last year with no trouble, looking at a 1086 this year for a guy.  I would assume that if that series could be done a hydrualic based autopilot could be done your tractor.  Havent dug into the research yet on those though. JMO

Any help would be appreciated....
