I am looking at getting a zero turn mower and was wondering what opinions everyone had on a 2020 Country Clipper xlt 60" vs a 2010 JD Z960A 60". I know the JD has more hp but any other pros and cons for either machine? Thanks

NC IA | Deere makes a really good riding lawn mower, but I think their zero turns are middle of the pack. I do not know much about country clipper, but I have heard really good things about other brands like Toro.

Western ND | I have a few years old country clipper and like the joystick drive on it over the two handle system. This was one of the biggest features that sold me on it. Also their deck will be about twice as heavy as the jd, fully welded vs stamped. The fold up deck is nice but can be a bugger if the deck is full of grass, was always going to look into the power raise option.

Central IL | We sell Country Clippers here at work. I'd put their quality and ease of use up against any of the other makes.

East Central Ia, S. Waterloo | I have the older Jazzee as well, it's the only zero turn I've ever owned so I don't have a comparison. They do seem to be well built and I really like the joystick steering, leaves a hand free to hold low branches back or anything else you need a free hand for. It is a 60" and as for power it seems to have all it needs.

East central Iowa | One thing about a JD, you can get parts. And not wait a month or discover that your model L667 has a different switch or pulley if it was made in July from the one in March and the L667 the following year had a different engine.

MN | Nice with the joystick- you have a free hand to move branches out of the way from smacking you in the face & sip a cool frosty beverage......

Somerville, Indiana | I have two front mower Grasshoppers...Oldest is a 94, still can get what few parts it needs from the internet next 2 day deliver.. Made in Kansas, I think.. Really proud of both, however, initial cost is expensive...Tend to forget that over the next 20 years though.. Both do a good job, 63 inch looks better after than the 72 inch.. Although the 63 has gauge wheels, 72 doesn't.. Any narrower deck beats out a wider, in uneven ground..

West Central IL | following, my old ' 74 Deere 110 is getting hard to find a good deck for. Have a decent 46" on it now, but a zero turn without a clutch and shifter sure would be nice.

Texas | I looked at the Country Clippers a while back at a dealer. Already own Grasshopper and other brands so didn’t need another mower but I sure like the idea of the single joystick design.

Schlegel Farms, Hagerstown Indiana | I'm on my second one. Both have been the "BOSS" which is the biggest model. The first one had a 60" deck and the joystick. I ran it three and a half years and had no trouble at all, but I wanted a bigger deck. The second one is a 72" deck and a twin-stick. I went to the twin-stick because I've got a shoulder that gives me some trouble and it did away with the sideways movement. If I was to guess, I'd say 90% they sell are joystick, they had to order the one I got to get the two sticks, didn't have any in stock out of twenty mowers or so The engine is a 35 horse V-Twin Kawasaki (sp), and I've never run out of power. I like the fact that they are 100% made in the USA. Actually by a grain bin company. The owner built decks for other companies (Grasshopper was one I know) for years to keep his employees working in the off months. He finally decided to just build the whole mower. I'd strongly recommend one. https://www.countryclipper.com/company/ (IMG_4924 (600 x 450) (full).jpg) (IMG_4925 (600 x 450) (full).jpg) Attachments ---------------- IMG_4924 (600 x 450) (full).jpg (50KB - 306 downloads) IMG_4925 (600 x 450) (full).jpg (103KB - 262 downloads)

Central MN | If you have a rough lawn, check out a Ferris with the independent suspension. I have one it's an awesome machine

tillage-director - 4/24/2020 21:31 Currently have the 60” Jazeepro, have had a couple Country clippers as well. Pretty bulletproof, simple, have a terrific dealer who stocks lots of parts. All that being said, if I were buying today, I’d for certain get a model with suspension, unless your yard is like a pool table. If you have a rough lawn, check out a Ferris with the independent suspension. I have one it's an awesome machine

Central IL | Most of the commercial guys around here run Ferris. I got a Cub Cadet 72" Commercial because I wanted the steering wheel Zero Turn so I could hold a cold beverage in my free hand. Plus the price was 30% lower than a similar Deere. Performance for the Cub is similar to my buddies commercial Deere. Does a nice job on 8 inch tall roadside grass about as fast as you can jog.
