Owings, Maryland 38.6856 N 76.6752 W | I have a pair of cylinders that have supposedly 9/16-18 UNF ORB ports. OK the 9/16-18 seems like a odd size, to me anyway. UNF, ok so it fine threaded, ORB, so it is a o-ring fitting. Question is,,,,,, when I am shopping on e-bay for fittings and hoses etc. why am I not able to find anything compatible ? Maybe the 9/16" is really a 1/4" or 3/8" fitting with fine thread ? no. I also noticed that alot of the fitting are marked as #6, #8 and so on. Is 9/16-18 actually a hydraulic fitting size ? almost sounds like a bolt thread. If you could just shed a little light on the subject it will be greatly appreciated, Thanks guys !!!!!!! Hope I did a good job with my grammer and spelling !!!!!!!!

Owings, Maryland 38.6856 N 76.6752 W | Just found a handy little chart, will try to attach for others !!!!! SAE J514 Straight Thread O-Ring Boss (ORB) Recommended by the NFPA for optimal leakage control in medium and high pressure hydraulic systems. The male fitting has a straight thread and O-ring. The female port has a straight thread, a machined surface (minimum spotface) and a chamfer to accept the O-ring. The seal take place by compressing the O-ring in the chamfer. The threads hold the connection mechanically. That is a 3/8 or #6 hydraulic size. Try this link http://www.discounthydraulichose.com/category_s/55.htm for size charts. I get many hydraulic fittings from NAPA, easy to get and not too expensive.

Brazilton KS | You've already found it. Yes, it is a bolt thread. You can build fittings out of fine thread bolts when in a pinch.

NW Washington | FWIW the "dash" size number used for hydraulics is the size of the tube/hose/fitting in 16th of an inch. Therefore a #6 is 6/16" or3/8" and a #16 is 16/16 or 1" and so forth.

O-ring fittings are convenient and effective, but are sometimes hard to find in remote locations. You may want to consider port adapters that would convert your #6 ports to 3/8" fnpt (female pipe threads) and this may make your fitting choices much greater and easier to access.

Owings, Maryland 38.6856 N 76.6752 W | Shopping e-bay at this time and that is pretty much what I have come up with, need to transition to another type from the ports, happened to find 10 #6 ORB X 3/8" FNPT's,,,,,, Thats the luck !!!!!!!
