West central Ohio | Looked at a low houred 260 today. '13 model i believe. Drove it around the dealers lot a bit, seemed to shift awfully hard, is that normal on these tractors?

I have a '13 280. Only have 260 hrs on it but I don't think it shifts any harder than my old boxcars.

Probably a lot of difference between a 13 and our 946, but our old one shifts hard.

Yea I have a 946 that jars your teeth lol. '13 is definitely more refined.

Central ND | A 260 is a front wheel assist. Whole different animal than an older versy 4wd

NE Indiana | Re-calibrating the transmission may help with shifting. The good: Price. 30% cheaper then the equivalent Deere; or, the capability of an 8R at the price of a 7R. Cummins engine, Cat transmission Very simple tractors, but they do have some creature comforts. The bad/ugly: Poor fit and finish compared to competitors. Weak tie rod ends may require an upgrade to run front duals. Rather silly electrical issues sometimes occur (multiple failed HVAC modules or loose female pins on fuse board failing to provide power, for instance) Poor resale value; popular only in certain regions. I think they are a good choice for budget conscious farmer that needs a high horse row crop tractor or for big operations that employ steering wheel holders. Versatile is good about addressing problems and issuing campaigns (product improvement programs).

Eastern Arkansas | I bought 4 310 this year. Traded 4 John Deere 8310R in. 2013 was the first year for them. I would look for a later model one. They have made quite a few upgrades. Supposedly the 15 and up have better electronics. Mine have the suspended front axle it is worth getting. Rides as good as a John Deere ILS. And a lot simpler. So far I have been impressed. Everything I need and nothing I don’t. It is a little rougher finish in the cab, but the massive cab makes up for it. I like the field cruise, set it at 1800 rpm and it increases fuel as load increases to try and keep it there. It makes peak power at 1800 so there is no nead to run it higher. The controls take a little getting used to. They are not very intuitive. The transmission is a Univance. Shifts a little rougher than Deere but not much. It’s supposedly a copy of the Deere transmission. As far as power, the 310 will smoke an 8310R and will run with an 8360R no problem. I got 5 year warranty and got into them cheap. I have a very good dealer and am not worried about keeping them going. Time will tell how they hold up.

southwest north dakota | Seen 2014 220 with loader on it, it had 800 hours on it. tractor in like new shape sell for 81k, thought that was poor resale on it.

Eastern Arkansas | That would have been the older Genesis line. Completely different tractor. I don’t think they made a 220 in 2014.

Oh. I see hard shifting as in jumpy, not actually hard to shift.
