Subject: farm work boots question

SE Manitoba
Greetings

Took the time to search through a number of the posts on work boots over the past years.
What I'm looking for hasn't been mentioned.

I've got wide feet - - - 11HH or 11EEEE work but better would be 10.5 or maybe 11 EEEEE but no one makes boots for wide feet (not narrow ones either!).

When it comes to something for chores and around the farm - - - can't find anything that fits.
Baffin makes but then I use a 14 with no soles and 15 if I want a felt insole.
Tried the Dunlop Puroforts and even there its a 14 so I can get enough width.
When the are this long it doesn't take but a bit and my feet are sliding - - - means I get raw ankle bones regularly and they don't heal when you're always using the boots.
Years ago there used to be a Czechoslovakian made 'Cebo' rubber boot with red bottoms and rid stripe on the top and they weren't too bad a 12 would work.
They haven't been imported in for over 12, maybe 15, years and I can't find the company so that's no dice.

Seems like all the manufacturers believe in one width fits all - - - funny even the pickup boys give some options - - - when it comes to chore boots - - - - zip/nada.

Any ideas on where to look? (I can't be the only guy out there that has feet that are wider than EE - - - grin!)

TIA

Have some custom made? Might b speedy but nothing worse that uncomfortable shoes and sore feet. Amazing how many other issues poor shoes can create too.

I found the Red Wings makes a pretty good boot for a leather work boot. I'd have to dig to find the model but I got lots of life in very rough service and they fit quite well. (My feet might even be wider than yours - - -grin not that's a competition - - lol.)
Red wings used to have a very nice cushion insole - - - must not have been enough people buying so now they only have the cheap one - - -bummer.

I was talking to a manager of a shoe store this spring. Was complaining that red wing work boots were no longer my preference. He told me red wing now makes 3 lines of boots. Most people are strictly looking at price so they make a cheap boot to compete. They also make a top of the line boot but most stores do not carry--have to special order. I ordered a pair of the better shoes but have not wore them yet--tooo dang hot to break in new work boots.

I'm in the same boat. I've got mud and manure to work around, so I really need a rubber boot. I usually just use a size 15 and a couple pairs of socks, the problem I run into is durability. I've had multiple pairs of the green Northerners split at the base of my right big toe within a few days of use. I picked up some good ones last year, I don't remember the exact brand, but for ~$110/pair I had minimal leaking all winter. Dry feet are worth the investment.

A little over a year ago I found shoes that actually fit me for the first time: New Balance 624, size 12 EEEEEE. I was trying to do some running to get in a little better shape this summer, and thought it would be nice to get a lighter running shoe so I could keep going in colder weather than I can run in barefoot, but after contacting most manufacturers of running shoes it seems that nobody makes such a beast. There are about 4 models of running shoe made as wide as EEEE, nothing in EEEEEE other than the clunky ones I've got now, which are great for general wear but not really a running shoe.

Edit: the boots I got last year were Skellerup Quattro.

I have bad feet. My foot is fairly wide at the toe end, and narrow at the heel. I'm always swimming in work boots unless their lase up.... Which I hate.

Red wing over the last 12 years has changed me life. They make boots that fit my foot, they will even ship a pair out to me if I'm busy and can't drive the 100 miles to get to them. I also wear a half sole in the boots with better insoles.

I can no longer wear the cheap ariat or justin chinese cowboy boots/work boots anymore. my feet won't let me.

Danner Bullrun are the most comfortable boots i have ever worn, I usually buy 10.5EE or 11EE . I the Danners the 10.5EE wee perfect. There was no break in time and they are American made and repairable. They are the coolest boots I have ever worn for the summer.

I am wearing Keen size 12 EEEE right now. Most comfortable shoe that I have found in the 30+ years of farming. They are not rubber but seem to hold up ok in manure if I wash them off a few time each day. Not something that is made for deep mud cattle yards, but work great around the yard and in the shop.

Haven't bought a pair for a while now but the last pair, bought about 10 years ago (I buy before I need them) was about $400 with all the trimmings - - - so I don't think they were the cheap ones.
Do work very well though!

That's a leather boot and I'm thinking more like a chore boot - - - more like a rubber boot (hopefully built sturdier than the cheapies).

Thanks for the tip though!

I could only get Keen boots to last 3 or 4 months before something fell apart.
