| Ran a new one (dealer demonstrator) last night.
After a few hours, got a few questions.
1. Do these have power brakes now? They seemed to work nicer than the S670 I'm used to.
2. The wizard that automatically adjusts combine settings, is this thing to be trusted? The model I was using was showing high losses out the separator and screens but nothing on the ground. Seems like everytime I went into the "analysis" mode, it wanted to make major changes.
3. The header seemed to "soft start". Maybe I'm imagining things, but is this made now to engage at higher engine speed? I always idle the motor down before starting the separator or head.
HP seemed less than the S670 in similar corn. Way too many buttons on the controller that were not used for anything I was doing. Not sure what they were even for.

Swaledale, IA | I do not know about setup wizard but have always used similar setting to give us a good starting place then I like to do all other adjustments manually and 1 at a time so I know what helps and what hurts or causes no change. |

| There are cameras in the tailings and clean grain to "evaluate" the crop. The wizard looks at the images and adjusts. At least that's what I think it is doing....... |

Illinois | I don't know if it's the same thing or not but our s660 will start blinking and try to get you to allow the machine to make adjustments. It doesn't like variable yeilds, I would like to disable it. |

Nw Iowa | We have a 780 this year, first new combine since 13 that replaced a680. Brother and nephew were running it last couple days in beans and really like quietness and hyd feeder house tilt. I think they are still running just about everything manually. It was also a demo so had all kinds of bells and whistles that will probably turn into crap in a few years. I think a lot of it is for custom cutters or where you are running inexperienced help. It was a demo so we got a pretty decent deal if we figured trade allowance vs actual trade price on old one ( what it was really worth) but if buying a new one would trim a lot of the options out. Personally think Deere will introduce a whole new machine shortly as competition is getting ahead of them. Deere has had present combine box for a long time. I am betting 3 yrs max. |

MN | I don't think they will be leaving the s-series anytime soon. |

|
| By the way you describe it. The machine probably is prodrive and 5 speed feederhouse. Smooth header engagement and very powerful brakes. That goes for all machines equipped that way since the 70 series. |

Watford City, ND | I didn’t realize Deere had come out with the S7 series.
Kinda funny - so I went on youtube to watch the Deere video on it. In the picture below, they are harvesting canola but the camera is showing corn.
Me thinks they better fix the settings if they want a better canola sample...

Illinois | It has been posted with pictures of the actual combine showing that Deere has a twin rotor in development stage. If they bring that to market we will see.

| We traded our S680 for a S780 and ran it for all of wheat harvest (several hundred hours). I saw a huge improvement over the S680. It is so quite and it is not just from inside the cab that is noticeable. We were cutting for a landlord and even he said "man, that is one quite, smooth running machine." We had a 2012 S690 when the S series first came out, and that was a lemon. There was lots of "known" issues and then the "fix sheet" from mother Deere had incorrect part numbers - what a mess.
Deere had better try to do something with the rotor if they plan to increase the header size to a 60' as we run a 45' header (645FD) and it seems like the rotor has all it can do now to separate the grain from all that straw.
Deere really seemed to of really made some good improvements in this model. As one of the "higher-ups" at the dealership stated "now you can actually use the Bluetooth (as now the cab is quiet enough!).
