Northwest Indiana | Trying to find new seal for these two cylinders. Dealer keeps getting kits but are wrong. As you can see newer cylinder with part number is welded and older one comes apart on both ends. Surely someone has run into this before? About ready to buy new cylinders but 4.25" seems hard to find... Thanks (335 cylinder (full).jpg) (335 cylinder 1 (full).jpg) Attachments ---------------- 335 cylinder (full).jpg (162KB - 209 downloads) 335 cylinder 1 (full).jpg (201KB - 174 downloads)

Sac & Story county IA | You get it apart and get good dimensions of the sealing parts. Baum Hydraulic sells by dimension and picture. Hard to stump those guys.

north west arkansas | Oh my!!!! Fought same thing for 3 years on my planter. Deere couldn't get it right at all and ended up using 4 kits to build one cylinder and Deere kept saying new cylinders weren't available. Ended up getting the next ones built at local cylinder shop and didn't hold. Like I said fought it 3 years and again this spring. I was talking to a young partguy at Deere this spring that knew nothing about parts or equipment and he had only worked there 3 weeks. Anyway he said he could get new cylinder no problem. So he ordered it next day air Saturday deliver which I knew it would never be right. Sure enough cylinder showed up next day and was right cylinder and after 3 years my problems were over.

Central Illinois | Deercraig, My neighbor had the same problem. He took the cylinder to the dealer and had the service department measure the cylinder. They found the tag on the cylinder was the wrong part number and wrong dimensions. Ordered the correct sized seal kit and he was good to go.

SC Kansas | 3.25 Cessna/Eaton Wireloc rephrasing cylinders. Just rebuilt one on a 960 Deere Cultivator a few weeks back. Was around $113.00 for the kit with new wires included. You don't pull the wires out, you turn them out. Have taken them to hydraulic houses before but last time it was around $300.00 for the rebuild, done them myself ever since. Very common on Deere stuff from the 70s thru 90s.

Very common on Deere stuff from the 70s thru 90s. they like making them outa tubes and using wire as it's a cheap way to go---plus you can make a weird length so off the shelf stuff is wrong length. grapple cyl on my loader were that way---I redid the brackets , bought some fittings and replaced both with off the shelf--closed 'bite' is right now, standard replacement will work, whole deal cost less than one new morhidite from J.D. Plus went a bit slimmer, cycles faster now.

210 Industrial Dr., Arlington Wisconsin 53911 | There should be numbers stamped into the main cylinder housing. Sand the paint away and they become visible. Thats what I find on Deere planter cylinders when I reseal them.
