SESD | I'm pretty much a deere tractor guy. Looking at upsizing my loader tractor and seem to keep looking at these machines as they look to be a good bang for the buck with some nice options. I'd be comparing to an 8000 series deere(probably a 20 series), and for the same money, it seems some nicer options, like the CVT especially(IVT would be good too, but I don't like the repair costs I hear and more money for 30 series). Question-How do the hydraulic controls work. The pics I see, instead of first SCV being nearest to the operator, it looks like it is the 5th SCV and then a joystick for the first 2 SCV? Is that right? Can they be switched without hooking hoses differently(since I'm used to deere)? How would those controls operate with a loader? How do they handle in general with a loader? What can you tell me about the front suspension with or without a loader? Turning radius compared to deere. Anything else you can tell me about these tractors would be great. Reliability? Longevity? Regular maintenance and costs? I see some have DEF and earlier ones do not, is that something to take into consideration? I would be looking to do my loader work, some haying, drill or planter if needed, scraper or tile plow if needed, grain cart, basically an all around tractor. My current one is just too small for most those things and my dad is going to retire after this year and I won't have his equipment around to fill those gaps. Thanks in advance for all the help. | ||

southeast Washington | The y make a Cadillac loader tractor the joystick runs the loader and yes you can program them different. In foot mode running the loader or grain carts and stackers none better. You can get economy PTO run 1000 PTO at 1600 engine RPMs. Transmission is in it own oil and is the best and very simple CVT. Final drives are in there own oil. | ||

MN | Don't remember everything you can change exactly, but you can make a lot of adjustments with how the hydraulics function in the screen. The little joystick works well for loaders. There are also two buttons on it that you can program to be about anything that is electronically controlled. Turning radius is good as long as you don't have the wheels set all the way in. If you have to be at true 60", it won't turn as tight as an 8000 Deere. If you move them out even a little it improves a lot. You can turn the front suspension off for loader work if you need to, but I could only ever see that needed if you're trying to do fine grading...which isn't exactly work for a tractor loader anyway. The DEF units seemed to do a little better on fuel. They are also probably a little better as the first units were EGR so they had a little more time on the series before the DEF units came out. As long as the units have been used, any issues from being the early DEF units would be fixed. A good buddy has a very early DEF unit 8600 and it has been almost perfect. Runs his planter with it and won't replace it because it's just never let him down. For what you're looking to do with it, I think it's a great setup. Like you said, you can get into them very reasonable and they have a lot of nice to have options. | ||

S.C. Minn | The CVT is awesome and bulletproof. The cab is ok. The air conditioning isn’t the best. Am FM radio has very poor reception. The hydraulics leak but AGCO just came out with a repair kit that fixes this and is relatively inexpensive. 34 mph is really nice. Fuel economy is outstanding. | ||

South Africa | They’re not bad tractors, just 2 issues if you’re going to hook a scraper to it: 1. It will not accept external control of the hydraulics on the CAN bus like a Challenger, so if using grade control you will have to use an external valve, which is a real Pita... 2. Their final drives do NOT like scraper work at all. We had issues with final drives about every 3-500 hours of scraper work... | ||

Indiana | We have had 40 series Deere’s and love them, but Dad wanted a new loader tractor with A/C. So we go tractor shopping, man the price difference alone will make up for some major break downs. In the end we bought a Massey. Wasn’t real excited about it at first, but now that we’ve had it for a year it’s awesome. The cvt and loader on the small joy stick is incredibly handy. It’s like any other tractor you are going to work on it. Bang for your buck we will buy another one at some point. We’ve had one problem, we miss placed our green kol-aid. | ||

| I can't speak to the Massey, but can the other identical colors. You won't be disappointed with these tractors. Like mentioned, the a/c has been the biggest disappointment. I like it COLD and they struggle on hot days. But, as far as joystick controls, transmission, economy, versatility, power, quiet operation, smooth ride, etc, they are superb. I wouldn't even consider other brands. The engine and transmissions have never let us down. We had an earlier orange one before the one in the picture too- all CVT. NEIA | You need to check up on some updates for the AC. They have improved them a lot. Last one I had on sunny days I opened the door just to cool it down some inside. The one I have now it stays cool inside. I see your side engine panels are still solid. One of the updates is they cut out an area by the front tires and put a screen over that. This helps direct some of the engine heat out to the side rather than straight back to the cab. | ||

Strathcona, mn | I have the orange version. I have a rt110a which is a 7000 series Massey. That one has the dyna-6 powershift tranny. It has a loader and has the joystick control. It makes for a really nice loader set up. The tranny is as good as any powershift I’ve ever been in. Left hand reverser and shifter is very handy. I also picked up a pre emission 2005 dt180a this spring. Same as a 8000 series Massey. I’ve always heard great things about the agco cvt tranny. All I can say is what you here is absolute truth. After having one there will be no more fwa power shifts bought on this farm. The cvt is that much better. Cabs are the same. Maybe not the latest and greatest but are comfortable and quiet. One thing I dislike is the seat doesn’t turn all the way to the right. They have it locked out. In my rt110a there is another bracket that raises the arm rest. The dot series did not come with it and the arm rest is lower. I took the seat suspension apart on the rt and unlocked the swivel. I checked into oredering the bracket to raise the arm rest on the dot and therefore unlocking swivel. The bracket is currently back ordered. Turning radius is very good considering that it is a large frame fwa. I believe all issues powered machines have the frame cutout to turn tighter. I have my tires set at 62” and have no problem turning back down 12 rows. I haven’t tried but may even turn down 8 pretty decent. Other than the tranny the next best thing is the sisu engine! I have 5 of them on the farm and can’t say enough good about them. I used to be a Cummins guy but I’m sold in the sisu’s. They have a great torque curve and are super fuel efficient. While spraying I’m running 1450 rpms doing 156 acres an hour while burning 5 gph fuel. Pretty remarkable. I love how you can set your rows on the cvt then fine tune speed. I’m not anti Deere but if people would not be color blind I think more would be pretty impressed by agco’s offerings. The newer cabs are even nicer yet. | ||

| They have done many updates on the Challenger. They cut extra vents in the headliner for more return air and I'm not sure what else. Still not perfect. Found that if we don't turn the knob all the way to the coldest setting, it actually works better- but still not perfect. | |||

| X2 on the air conditioning problem we have 2 2009 Agco Dt 205b and 225b (same as an 8600 series) Both are unable to keep you cool on hot days ESPECIALLY when the sun is directly shining into cab it’s keeps it barely cool enough to keep from sweating. Have talked to dealer multiple times and just get the run around check pressures clean this “we have never heard of that” business. I wouldn’t buy another if they don’t solve this on newer models. Also the blower fan is extremely loud and listening to it fun full speed all day isn’t fun. Pretty sad when our1998 case 7110 case better air conditioning than a newer agco They are really nice tractors it’s just a shame that this was overlooked If anyone finds a fix for this I would love to know Edited by bergesonk 10/23/2018 10:25 | |||

East Texas | I have a 8680 Massey and 8520 and 8320 Deere. 16,000 hours between the two 20 series Deere’s and I bet less downtime with both combined, than the 2800 hour Massey alone. Massey is very nice to run if it’s not hot outside lol. I bet the Massey uses half the fuel doing the same job as any 20 series Deere. | ||
