West Central, IA | Anybody run a Challenger 1000 series this spring? Good, bad, ugly? Just looking for facts from actual users, not a color war or hearsay. (Challenger 1000's (full).PNG) Attachments ---------------- ![]()

I own a 1038 and a 1042. I have 1200 hours of the 1038 and 1600 hours on the 1042. There is no color war with these tractors; they are years ahead of any competition. They are the best tractors I have owned. I have had flawless performance and no breakdowns with these tractors. 1. Engine torque is unbelievable ; reaching full torque at 1000 rpms. No other color can compare or compete with the Man engine. Most of our work is done at 1050-1100 rpms; which leads to incredible fuel economy . Also, no fan belts to replace on the Man Engine. 2. No hi or low in the CVT tranny. The smoothest in the industry. The most user friendly tractor's I have owned. 3. MFD engages hydraulicly ; without any clutches to wear out. Operator does not have to worry about engagement. It does it automaticly on demand. 4. No powerhop. 5. Cab is super quiet. You have to open the door to hear engine start at 600 rpm's. 6. Air brakes. Front end turns faster in turns; to pull tractor in direction of turn. My only fault with these tractors is the lack of individual rear breaks when operating my 7 bottom 20" Tatu switch breaking plow. I understand that will change in near future. 7. Overall the smoothest , operator friendly tractors I have owned. My operators continually brag on these tractors. Put about 25 hrs on a 1038. Love the machine. 35 mph road speed. ability to operate it like a truck with just the foot pedals.

South Central Idaho | Demoed a 1038 as well this spring. It is a very nice tractor. Super quiet, ran at 1400 rpms all day. Used like 20% less fuel than our Massey Ferguson 8735 tractor doing the same job. I will agree with remotes being way too high on the back. Looking at either a 1038 or 1042 for this fall potentially.
