Probably gonna get a color war and a who copied who discussion and that’s not what I’m after. I’m wondering if anyone has run each enough to give a good comparison as to pros and cons of each. Would like to update my 9330 to something bigger and was thinking of a 470 case quad but jd found a 9470rtx with a few less hours for about same price. Curious if that’s a route to look at or not.

I go to Goodyear LSW 1400 lot more power to ground
Lot less money

From what I was told that the early Deere RX get fodder build up somewhere in them that makes them prone to burning up. Also that they don’t float quite as nice and can bury them if you find a wet spot. Never ran the Deere but just what I was told. We have a 440stx quad and love it but the rest of our tractors are green r series so I’m not color blind.

I have considered that too. Maybe they are better tires but I have personally not had the greatest luck with Goodyear tires holding up.

When I looked last fall the 1400s were over $10K/tire. Don’t know if I’d say save a lot of money.

Also, how do you figure more power to the ground? Not being sarcastic, honest question

I would take either one just depends on price. I wouldn't pay extra for green paint and around here that's what it takes. I prefer the caseih approach to emmisions, but usually don't own a big tractor like that much past warranty so I guess that doesn't matter to much. We've been running Quadtracs for a while now and I like them, but if a RX was cheaper we'd have one of those.

I'm surprised you can find a cheaper John Deere but would not be afraid to buy it if so. Used red quads are plentiful and, with some patience, you could find exactly what you want. I would shop around some personally to make sure the deal is good.

Friend had a green one to demo and they have had at least a half dozen red quads. They figured the Deere maybe pulled a tish better and maybe rode a little better. They seem to have a lot of little annoying problems with the red machines like loose interior pieces and stuff rattling that shouldn’t.

the few out around here had many PIP's done by the dealer, some involved hydraulic line re routing. On an early one be sure all the PIPs have been done.

What about a MT800 or MT900 series Challenger? More low end grunt than a 12.9L Iveco could ever dream of. :)

I’ve run a case 620 quad with 30in tracks for 1200hrs traded for a 9620rx with 36in tracks this year.

With the quad we lost an average of 3-4 days of seeding time every year due to def codes and other small issues. Had 2 boogie wheel seals go out during that time. The iveco uses about 15-18 gph and we filled def every third or fourth day. Fill def everyday on the John Deere. I use the AFM system on both. Case ran 1700rpm and John Deere runs 1480rpm -1620 depending on the load.

Case-

Pros-smooth on and off the road. Plenty of power for what we needed to do. Just keep the rpms up. Worked great once they fixed the def issues but it was always in the back of my mind when the alarm would sound again. Controls were intuitive and cab was ease to see out of.

Cons- transmission shifts hard even after calibrations. I wouldn’t wish the Pro700 monitor on anybody. Did I mention the def problems? Changing the oil takes three men and a small child. No storage in cab.

John Deere-

Pros- transmission is smooth and keeps up to changing loads, cab is quiter because the engine is not running as high of rpms. 62-64db compared to 70-72 in quad. 4600 is 100x better than the pro700 and transmission parameters are easier to set. Uses less fuel during lighter duty tasks. About the same fuel use when pulling harder. Hooks up to the ground a little better.

Cons-Rides a little rougher going down the road and field. Def tank is to small. Cab is more difficult to see out of. Can’t see the hitch from cab.

If I was to do it again I’d buy the green one. Haven’t missed a day of seeding yet and I know I’ll be rolling soon if something does happen. Time will tell with track system and easy of maintenance.

Thats interesting to hear - we are finding the complete opposite. Are you measuring sound with the hydraulics engaged? We have two RX's (9570) and the one is registering 78-85 decibels and the other is anywhere from 83-95 decibels - we have a calibrated decibel reader. The sound is so bad we are using noise cancelling headphones.
Our case had noisy hydraulics at times but no where near this loud.
What did you do to make it quieter - did they do any updates?

Our DEF is also a pain. We are running 3 tanks of DEF for every 2 tanks of diesel. We don't ask how full the fuel level is anymore, we ask how full the DEF tank is. That just should not be. That's poor engineering if you ask me.

I just measured with an app on my phone. Nothing to scientific but is the same phone I used to measure the volume in the quadtrac.

Pulling a bourgault 3320 with high flow hydraulic pumps engadget on the tractor. Just finished seeding today and never missed a day because the tractor wasn’t ready to roll.

Rpms were running around 1550-1750 and I let the transmission pick the gear. Turned the eco button off when I was coming up on a hill and it shifted down and climbed right up.

No updates. I did leave the carpet on the floor tho, But the quad had carpet too.

83-95 dB is insane that’s about as bad as the sprayer and I wear earplugs in there. But maybe I’m already deaf....My wife seems to think so.

You do have to fill def everyday that’s for sure. It does ride rougher going across the furrows compared to the quadtrac.
