Thoughts on different flush valves for the end of sprayer booms/sections? I seen Wilgers and seem legit. Some important details- sprayer boom is stainless steel and does not have threads. See link for Wilgers product.

I have the Wilgers flush valves on our 3310. Absolutely hate them. Can't turn them unless you use channel locks and hard to find the "off" position even though they supoosedly have a stop built in. Would like to find something better.

The challenge with the Wilger design is that is does not purge the air that can become trapped in the top of the boom pipes. Have you looked at the Hypro Express End Caps?

Good to know. Hypro makes one that I also looked into. Involved a little more fab/install work. See link. I think I have read a few threads on here about them but not sure how quick/easy they are to flush booms. That system is supposed to rid the line of air allowing for a quicker on/off.

You must have different ones then what we have. Ours turn easy and makes it easy to flush booms out. Just turn them 180 and they drain. We put them on both ends of booms.

7 section boom, so 14 flush valves. Not one will turn by hand & haven't since they were new.

The end caps need a better way to grip them and pull them out. The little tabs don't cut it

I agree, they Hypro Express end caps are harder to remove than they should be. They need to build custom tool to remove the clip and turn the plug.

I installed the Hypros on our sprayer and it was well worth the money. I did it primarily to completely remove the dead space at the end of the boom pipes. I got the added benefit of air evacuation and great boom pipe access. The access to the end of the boom pipe has turned out to be important as I have to pull/push a bottle brush through my boom pipes each year to remove cotton defoliant residues.

The Hyporo end caps are easy to install after you do the first one.

The wilger guy says they're in the process of making the handle on their valves longer to make it turn easier by hand. Claims it should be ready this spring

I had all wilgers have replaced some with hypro. Will all be hypro when I get the time. They take care of the trapped air and don't trap product in the end of line. I have 5 way nozzle bodies and turn it to a open port to flush end out, don't take the end off. The wilgers are to hard to open and close like others have said.

I have the wilger flush valves and I guess I’m the odd man out but I love them.

I have had great luck with them. Yes they are a little stiff to turn but I haven’t had any problems with them and they fit in a compact area.

The good thing with them is I will go along the boom while it’s running and can turn them on and off and can watch all the gunk blow out. They flow a tremendous amount of water though them so flushing happens fast.

Yeah that seems like it would work well since the Hypro express caps leave minimal if any 'dead space' after the nozzle body. Eliminates what seems like the negative of the Hypros which is the removal of the end cap.

From what I seen, the Wilgers were ~$30 per end cap. Pretty cheap. Not sure what the Hypros add up to be. Seems like the Hypro Express end caps may be the better of the two.

That’s my gripe with them as well. It would be really easy for them to add a little tab to the wire clip and make the plug stick out a little further so you could do it with gloves on and no tools.

Agree! I think we underappreciated the fact that the Hypro totally eliminates all the dead space. I think dead space creates lots of problems for us. Somewhere for flowables to settle out into a gunk that absorbs other materials and releases them at the most inopportune time.
