swohio | Old semi has low pro 22.5's, new one came with them when new, but someone along the way switched them out 11R22.5's. Any reason to switch the new truck back to low pro's? One reason I know of it might give me enough room for 1/2 fenders. The new truck also came with 4 new tires and 4 that are real good. The main reason asking this that the old truck has alum. wheels and new one has steel. I'm going to switch them. I would just use my old tires and rims, but the new truck's tires are like new. Just used for farm. Is it worth effort and cost to switch new truck back to low pro's? Thanks.

I'd rather have the high ones. Should roll over soft ground better. I'd rather have 24.5 like our old one had, but you can't find anything with them on.

Pierce county WI | Lo pro's are supposed to have lower rolling resistance, for better fuel economy. I don't know how true that is. My main reason for having lo pro 22s, is economics and tire supply and availability. They are the most common size, so there are always tires you can pick from. Sometimes you can't always get what you want. In this case, use whatever makes sense. Then when you replace tires again, put whatever size you want on. I actually prefer a truck with 11r 24s, cause I don't have AG hoppers, so I'll take whatever clearance I can get.

NW Central Ohio | If you look at the actual weight rating on the individual tires...Lo-pros won't have as much capacity as standard. That was the answer a tire guy gave me a few years ago. I don't think we put enough miles on "farm" trucks to worry about the increase in fuel mileage. We're only supposed to be running them 7500 miles a year or less anyways if they're only plated for farm.

Galena IL | Low pros are a company tire. Tall Tires are what most owner operators run. Low-profile casings are worth nothing to Trade in. Tall ones are usually worth 75 bucks. Tall Tires also go faster. We prefer tall tires around here.... Dennis

Nw Iowa | There is no advantage to low pros, they are easier to find. Will change ratios on your truck some by changing sizes. Lo pro will slow truck down slightly. I would certainly wear out your talls before switching. We are trying to get all of our trucks to same size just to make life easier. I hate the lo pros on a grain hopper, seem to pull harder and sink in the field easier.

What is th ediffernce 5400 per tire dauled 21600 or 5400 per tire dauled 22600 I hit the wrong key !!!!!!!!!!!!

swohio | Thanks everyone, tall ones it shall be. Was leaning that way, but all the help on her sure makes which way to go a lot easier.

With lo-pros sometimes it is hard to get over some pits to unload. We put talls on several trucks for that reason.

Se wisc. | Just bought eight low pro as old recaps starting to separate. Front tires good so stayed with low pro. Otherwise if switching to tall we would have had to buy new steer tires. That being said I generally hate low pro. Getting stuck and hung up on unlevel ground all the time. Think suspension is Pete Air Track which is designed for road travel only. Never again.
