Maybe not the most comfortable tractors to run anymore but love the looks of a large open station (without ROPS) tractor especially ones you wouldn't typically think of CASE 90/94 series, Allis 70**, 30/40 series Deere's. Remember a farm I used to work at in high school had a 4440 on 18.4-42's with he cab cut off, that tractor was a thing of beauty. Anyone have any rare open stations? converted or not.

So when I was a kid, at the elementary school, or Jr high school library there was a book about farm equipment published in the 70s. There was a picture of a 1086 open station moldboard plowing with a 720 plow? A dairy farmer I know had bought a brand new 886 with a rops and he said that you couldn't get an 86 series bigger than a 786 without a rops and canopy or cab. I knew I had seen that book in the late 80s or early 90s. If I remember right, a neighbor's boy checked that book out of the library to settle the bet. They did offer a 1086 open station right?
As far as Deere open station, there was a 4240 sold new in our area that was an open station synchro. Also 4040s. I was told that you couldn't get a 4440 without a rops. However, a guy we used to tractor pull with says his dad's open station 4440 puller was factory open station. Is that true? A friend of mine has a 4250 that they sawzalled the 4 post off. That looks like a neat tractor. The Mexican 4455s with the 2 post look pretty badass too.

Guy around here I think was able to order a new JD 7600 open station, not that rare but seemed odd to me. Doesn’t garvo have an open station 7200?

I have a 7030 Allis that started life as an open station, and I am threatening to convert it back. Year-a-Round cabs are probably awesome snowblowing and a few other tasks compared to open station, but boy, they sure suck compared to an Allis Accousta Cab.

We have a 7210 open station. My dad bought it new and we even did the Gold Key Tour and saw it being built.

I remember a wheat farmer in N. Idaho who farmed with steel track D-7 Cats without cabs. He said cabs and wheel tractors made him sick.
He was known for doing things his way and not like the neighbors.

I love my 4430, its a '74 powershift. It even made it in some engagement pictures. Its one tractor that will never leave the farm. I seem to be getting a lot of tractors with that title...

John Deere made factory open station 4050's and 4250's in 1983 and 1984 model years. I am looking for a 4250 open station powershift if anyone has one.

Nice looking tractor, I would be very happy to have that 7210 on my farm, currently have a 3020 and 2520, love having a couple of open station tractors on the farm. That 7210 is basically the same size as a 4020, isn't it? The reason I ask is you hear all the time, "If Deere would build a 4020 they would sell a million of them." Well it turns out you could always buy a modern 4020 but Deere didn't sell a ton of them, I guess people chose cabs and FWA.

I can see getting a auger or yard tractor with out a cab. If you are going to the field all day why do you want to sit in dust all day?

There was an open station 4430 around a dairy here for years, & it didn't look like that one either. Only one that was ever sold out of here. Somehow it always looked bigger than the ones with cabs. That is a nice tractor...

I believe you could get the 40 series Deere's with a narrow front. Imagine a 4640 tricycle!!

Don't own one, but always thought the rarest were the JD 4650, 4755, 4760, etc. Quite a few south of here, in the valley. Couldn't have been that many built in the scheme of things. Pretty neat looking.

I'm pretty sure that option was only available for the 4040 & 4240 (& maybe the 4440).

Yeah, the 7210 is rated at 95 hp so that would be exactly the same size as a 4020. But I have owned both tractors at one time or another and as nice as a 4020 is, I much prefer this 7210. More hydraulic capacity, more gears to choose from and I would argue the torque curve on this engine is a lot better than the 4020.
