NW Iowa | Anyone using a 2612, 2608, etc whats the good bad and ugly? Looking at one that might need some wear parts but otherwise seems solid. Anything to look for or beware of? |

| I have had a 2606 for about 7 years now....flawless.....Except....I break one or two front snapping roll bearings a year on 550 acres....the little stub shaft breaks off of the bearing....that seems to be the only weak spot

Ontario | Pretty good head, well built. Nothing like the 3000 series. |

Northeast Iowa | the snouts can be troublesome as they are pretty thin and wear through easy. case does make a stainless patch that you can attach. otherwise pretty solid heads. would recommend changing all the oils in the gearboxes if you buy one. the ones that run the chopper blades oil get pretty dirty looking after time |

NE SD | Ran a 2608 for about 6 years. The snouts and snout support brackets were a joke. Maybe newer ones are different? Mine was a 2009. Also the snouts and the hoods over gather chains are very thin and were through fast. I also had 2 gear boxes go bad. I also kept a main drive chain on hand. I broke one every year. Maybe the newer ones are better or different but I cant say much good about the one I had. It also shells corn and looses it terribly bad. The JD head is light years ahead.
good luck |

| I had two 2606 and 1 2608. My second 2606 wasn't too bad of a head other then that the other 2 were junk. All kinds of snout issues , gearbox going bad. header height sensors issues, drive chains breaking, gathering chains tensioners seizing. we worked on my 2608 almost everyday in harvest. I have a geringhoff corn head now for two years and it is twice the head. not one breakdown in 2 years. Ill never own a case head again |
