Subject: Fixing up JD 4620

Have a 4620 powershift in the shop to work on. Would like to put ROPS and canopy on it. Having a hard time finding one to buy. Was the ROPS cut through the fenders? Anyone know where I could find them? Thanks in advance for any help.

Fenders bolted to ROPS. Look for some old cabs from these tractors, the 4520 I just bought has the ROPS integrated into the cab, don’t know if it’s the same style as open station but I’m stripping off the cab and leaving roof cap and ROPS on.

All kinds of ROPS advertised in Green Magazine.

The only ROPS that truly works on a 4620 is an original. None of the reproduction ones will work without modification. All the ones you see advertised will fit up to 4320 and are hollow. Above that, all the ROPS were solid steel and quite heavy. Probably for a reason too. The original design was for the ROPS to protrude thru the fenders. However it is also possible to mount them to the outside of the bar. I have done it both ways so it just depends if you are worried about the correct police or not. I have several of those style ROPS here but am not selling any of them. You may find an old cab take-off that still has the bar inside, but it would have to be a 4520/4620/5020 cab. The 6030 ROPS are similar too, excetp for the center "t-bar" portion, so you would have to get that part from a 4520/4620/5020/7020.

Looks like the rops is still available through Deere, AR50534, $990. Canopy is more but that gets you a start anyways.

The 4520/4620/6030 all had solid roll bar and went thru fender. If I was putting one on I would hate to cut a nice set of fenders as they look fine mounted to the outside. The solid ones are not made aftermarket and are different at the bottom. The hollow ones look fine also but again are not correct.
