Fort Recovery. Ohio | On the new M and R series JD balers is the R series more comparable to the Vermeer N series ? looking at 560M baler the chains and bearings are lighter then the the Vermeer N but when you compare the 560R it looks to be close to a Vermeer, but the Vermeer when you look at it just seems to be a lot more heavier!

Dardanelle, in Yell County, Arkansas | Just quit looking at the junky green ones and get the Vermeer. (I am just kidding so don't get offended everyone) I do have a Vermeer 604N and it is an excellent baler.

Southwest Missouri | Here's the deal Rob,this is M.O if you were to buy the top of the line JD,NH or Vermeer baler right now and have been around balers before and know how to run and take care of one you shouldn't have much if any issues with any of them. Comes down to the one with the strongest dealer support in your area to me.

Fort Recovery. Ohio | Thats what we have been doing, I guess we should go with the Vermeer, because the Vermeer is built like a tank, compared too the other 2

north west arkansas | That has always been the case. With that being said I have two deeres setting in the shed and get along very good with them. I had Vermeer before and would consider another.

Oklahoma | O.u.and.direct - 1/22/2018 17:20 Comes down to the one with the strongest dealer support in your area to me. I agree. NH dealerships all closed up in our area. Vermeer dealer isnt very good at all. JD dealer support here is very strong and that's why green rules in our area.

Driftless SW Wisconsin | There is a whole lot more to baler performance than just weight.

SE ND | Jim - 1/22/2018 21:15 There is a whole lot more to baler performance than just weight. Exactly, float like a butterfly sting like a bee. Light on its feet, heavy where it counts.

Fort Recovery. Ohio | I am will aware of that Jim, thats why you have to order the Premium Deere R series baler instead of the M series Deere to compare to the Vermeer N. The shafts and bearings are smaller on the Deere M baler, The R series comes close to the size of the components in the Vermeer

North Central Texas | They sell a bunch of vermeers here but no one ever keeps them. The guys that buy them talk about how great they are and then trade them off and buy a deere again. I haven't seen one stay around here long enough to have an opinion of them.

Huh, so now they have gone the E,M,R route on balers too. I really dislike that new model numbering system from Deere but whatever. I believe the M Deere would be comparable to the N Vermeer. Maybe I'm wrong, but I know on the Premium balers the big difference was the automatic cycle. The only other OEM that offers this is AGCO, so it would be like having a Massey 2946A or 2956A. And AGCO claims that Deere's system is not truly automatic, so they are still the only ones to offer fully automatic. Just at first blush, I am not really a fan of those new Deeres. What's up with the black plastic mesh compartment? Looks cheap and like something that will crack wide open when that baler is backed into something. And I bet those stylish doors are plastic as well. For me personally, I have always run AGCO balers, and I really like what they do. I cannot imagine running a baler without AutoCycle. And the onboard hydraulics allow the baler to do things that others can't (for one, a hydraulic clutch). In all honesty, I am not too happy with my 2746A. I think it had some issues rolling out of the factory. But if I trade I would be looking at a 2946A and would feel pretty confident in getting one. The Vermeers are my second pick, but the lack of an automatic cycle would be hard to get used to. But, the on board scale and moisture sensor would be super slick. One other thing is whether you look for new or used. Used JD balers are too high in price, plain and simple. New, everything is on a level playing field, but used, you can find a Vermeer or MF for 50% of what you can find a JD for. I've seen JDs that should be scrapped and they will still ask $20k for them. If you look at other colors you can find a like new baler for that price. Just think about that, as well.
