Mid-Missouri | Brent 1080 lower auger needs tlc. New auger is 1600+. Lundell bolt on poly is 500+. I haven't spent the time to quote new flighting for the shaft. I am sure some company has the specs already for the flighting. It is double flighted on the very lower portion. Want to have an economical, long lasting repair. Thoughts

Hopkinsville, KY | Best choice: put the poly on a new auger. I know that’s expensive upfront buy here is what you get. The main part of the auger is new and if you put the poly on you will get 3x the wear. If you are going to keep the cart it will last a long time. If you are going to sell it, then you have a cart worth more. You may even want to line the trough with poly to make it last longer. Edited by Drbrown 1/18/2018 18:28

The eastern part of the more tropical Dakota | If you have enough flight left to support the poly, I'd go that route. I've had good luck with it.

NW MN | If the auger is the point of replacement the tube around is probably close also. Look into a liner for that as well and do it while the auger is out.

WC IA | what drives the auger off the gear box? is it a spline pto type coupler or a 3 or 5 prong style? the 3 and 5 prong style egg shape the drive holes and eventually sheer the prongs off. if prong style a new auger may be way to go

45 miles south spingfield il. | Local machine shop reflighted neighbor cart for same price as new augers. The labor was included and when he went to pick it up they had relined the casing . The best part was the cart ran smoother than it ever had.

Southeast PA | As others have said, put poly on new auger is best. But as long as there is enough flighting to support the poly go that route. I also 2nd what was said about the auger drives (pins or splined shaft). Not sure if the Brent fighting is cupped at all, but kinze fighting is, not sure if a local place could get cupped fighting? With our kinze if you put a new auger in you should put a new drive hub on so the old pins don't wear the new auger. Have no experience with tube poly, but I think it would make it run smoother with less hp as it is much more slippery.

Mid-Missouri | I initially was leaning towards poly flighting. The existing fighting is cupped, driven by two prongs on bottom. They appear to be in good condition yet. The factory liner looks pretty good yet...might look into poly liner.

West Central IL | We put poly on one of ours, held up good so far. The one before that was reflighted, never do that again. Out of balance and out of round. Thought it was going to wear a hole through the tube. Years later had a Westfield auger reflighted, same result, same outfit did that one too.

We put poly on a Unverferth 9250 2 years ago that the lower auger was sharp and thin. That cart has unloaded over 400,000 bushel since and last time I looked at the poly it looked like new.

Northwest IA. Near Ft. Dodge | Maybe I did it wrong, putting poly on is not fun.
