Hey everyone,
I am here on behalf of Sloan Express. We have been working very hard to build and maintain the quality of our products. We have come a long ways with this and hope to continue building on this. I would really like to get some feedback from you.

We want to hear about the experiences you have had over the past year or so. Thoughts on quality, improvements, questions, product suggestions, you name it..

I look forward to hearing from everyone!

No complaints here. Convenient for us to call the local Sloan's dealership and have parts delivered there with no freight if it is in stock.

Having good results with your USA made hyd hoses and K&M products. Anyway you can get Drives brand roller chain and USA made bearings? I like the next day, free shipping to nearest Sloan dealer. Be careful selecting parts from China, some of it can be quality, some junk! Craig

Staff is always helpful, shipping is always on time. For whatever reason, over time it seems OEM manufacturers quality has improved and prices a bit more competetive. Also with internet suppliers there are more choices. Things like disc blades, ripper points, planter disc openers, chain and some bearings from Sloans seem to be lesser quality, though cheaper. It's always a trade off but generally we find we go with the better quality. Realize you can't stock multiple grades of parts but it's nice to have a value priced supplier. IMO the catalog is not needed as we almost always search online.

IMO, a catalog IS a plus. Not all of us have WIFI /internet in our shop where we/I do the replacing/diagnosing what parts to get. Besides that, the wife gets upset when I take the laptop into the "can" instead of the newspaper; no smartphone.

It’s been a while since I’ve ordered from Sloanex.

Mainly because you look cheaper until the freight gets on there, then I just wasted my time.

Free shipping over so much $$$ would be nice. I also don’t care for the buy more get charged more shipping costs irregardless of what your buying.

Why does it cost me more shipping to ship me $500 worth of spray tiles that fit in a 8x8x8 box that weighs 2# than it does to ship $200 worth of disc blades that weight 50#?

Have ordered a few things in the past but the shipping kills any price savings.

Was interested in a set of no it alls.

They were $8.95 for a set of 4 which was good however the calculated shipping price to Ohio is $14.00 which is a deal breaker.

Why do places not utilize the USPS if it fits it ships flat rate boxes instead of forcing UPS delivery for light items ?  Something like this could go in a padded envelope in the mail for far less than $14.00

Policies like this discourage me from ordering at Sloan Express and send me to Shoup where its free shipping on orders over $200 and I have it the next day. Pretty easy to toss in some Baldwin filters or a few hitch pins or other general supplies to get a $200 order together.

I have ordered from Sloan once and was very happy with the experience, as others have mentioned shipping was a little high and took the value out of the purchase. I typically look to eBay for their free shipping when only ordering 1 or 2 items.. some type of free or reduced shipping promotion would probably help big orders

Chebanse, IL.....

I agree w/Von's point on shipping small items. Exorbitant UPS/FX fees usually mean you forget about the small items. Use USPS like many of the innovative ebay shippers do.

This is not specifically directed @ Sloan, this applies to all internet retailers.

I almost exclusively use shoup. Free shipping if over $200. They use spee dee for my location.

Spee Dee shipping is the best. Cheapest and fast. If I order before noon, I have it at my shop door the next afternoon.

Places could save customers money on shipping if they would use USPS flat rate for small parts.

UPS is very high. I have already had a $12 shipping charge on a $.50 washer that would have fit in a USPS envelope for less than $1.00

USPS delivers on Saturday too.

Like many others I too use Shoup due to free shipping. There are a couple things that I do like about Sloan. 1) Sloan accepts John Deere Financial (JDF) for payment, whereas Shoup does not (I like payment options) 2) I was able to buy S.I. finger-tills that weren't even in the catalog or online for $10 a piece less than buying directly from S.I.

Both companies have their place and different product offerings.

I have ordered from Sloan a few times, unfortunately my last order about 5 years ago didn't go well and I don't think I have ordered since. Closing wheel tires were a great price I ordered them, they went back order, when they arrived late (from China) they were so poor quality I couldn't use some of them and the ones I did use didn't last long. I'm sure the guy that bought the planter the next year wondered why all the closing wheel tires were falling apart, at least the ones I didn't change out. I still have a couple new defective tires if you would like to see them. When I bought them I didn't know I was comparing price of USA made tires to price of China made tires, that part was my biggest complaint.

Great note. That is something we are always looking to improve. The balance between quality and price. Obviously we aim for the highest quality possible but we want to stay as price conscious as we can for you guys. Maybe for this worry a little less about the price point and reach to the top for quality? I’ll look into the possibilities on this. Thanks

I understand free shipping is a huge plus for some. However we don’t add any shipping cost to the retail cost of our products. I have heard rumors that some places do this behind the scenes. We aim to keep our retail prices as low as possible so our local customers and customers that pick up at our Sloan Implement dealerships don’t suffer the added shipping costs. That’s one of the main benefits of giving “free shipping”. We will for sure look at all of our options to see what we can do in the future. Thanks for your feedback!

I have heard some companies add some of this "free shipping" cost to the products price tag. We want to be completely transparent with our pricing and keep it as low as possible. This also helps our local customers and customers that pick up at our Sloan Implement store not have to foot the bill for the "free shipping". But I will for sure look into our other options to try and suit everyone's needs. Thanks for the feedback!

The major problem w/ your shipping charges is it is based off your purchase amount. Not the weight of your purchase. If i buy something very expensive but very light i really get honked on the shipping

Customers always pay one way or another. With the free shipping over $200, there is an incentive to find the most effective way to ship. I am sure shoup has a good contract with speedee and ups. Will use the best choice.

This is a pet peeve of mine.

I tried to find a place to order a gasket kit for an injector pump. Literally would have fit in a large business envelope. But no. We have to ship it UPS and pay $15 shipping for a 4"x4"x4" box that weighed <1#.

Would have cost $1.50 with the USPS and taken the same amount of time.
