NW IA | Anyone using the cross auger clutch that shuts them off to empty the unload auger when dumping on the go? Would appreciate hearing about your experience with it. Thanks

Near Intersection of I-35 & I-90 Southern Mn. | I had one installed in my Deere 9770 over last winter when the combine was in for a combine inspection. Although I possibly didn't need one, it has worked fine for me. For those who are not familiar with the product, it consists of electric clutches that are installed on the cross augers in the grain tank. A foot switch in the cab allows the operator to push on it which then activates the clutches which release so the cross augers stop turning. The idea is that by stopping the cross augers, the vertical and horizontal unloading augers will soon run empty. This should reduce the strain on the auger support system due to the reduced weight. It should also reduce the stress on the drive train when the auger is again engaged since it would be empty. In operation, the combine operator observes the grain cart or truck and if it appears that the grain tank cannot be completely emptied, he steps on the switch which stops the cross augers and allows the unloading auger to become empty. He then shuts off the auger, folds it back and proceeds harvesting. He instinctively removes his foot from the switch. The next time the unloading auger is engaged, the clutches turn the cross augers as usual. I used mine but not on a regular basis. This is because our fields are mostly rectangular with a length suitable for me to plan to get the grain tank unloaded into the grain cart as we approach the truck end. This means that the grain tank is empty slightly before I reach the end. This allows me disengage it and fold the auger back with it empty. Since it is empty there is not much stress on the drive train when I need to unload the next time. Our field length, head size, yield, grain cart size etc. works out nicely so that I can make one complete round in corn for the majority of the fields. In other words for the majority of the time in corn, I don't need the clutch system. The Lankota unit seems well built and worked fine for me. I read here that some criticized the wiring on early models but possibly this was improved since I don't see a problem with mine. My unloading auger is the medium length which is suitable for a 30' head. This product would be more desirable for those situations with long augers, irregular fields etc. Edited by tedbear 1/7/2018 05:24

McCanna, ND | Have it on a case flagship. Had a whole bunch of issues to get sorted out before it worked properly. Now that I got it working it’s been pretty good

East Central SD | I've ran the Lankota setup on a 9660sts for 2 seasons. I really like it, as does my friend who runs the the combine in corn for me quite often. As stated, I ran the wires in a different location than the instructions stated, for a cleaner looking install.

Gilby,ND | Did you have to put the gull wing extensions on to make it fit like the directions say you "possibly" need too??

NCSD | They work good in my experience. Took a couple hours to install on our s680s. Had one clutch go out.
