Se mn | Looking for a vertical tillage machine. I’ve watched a lot of videos and tried a couple out in the field. We grow corn on corn and work most of our ground with a Dominator in the fall. Tried a Turbo-Max a few years ago on some untouched cornstalks and it didn’t do much except where the overlap was. Tried an Excelerator as well did about the same as the Great Plains. I was wondering if anyone has used the Case 330-335 extensively as a secondary tool and if it’s smooth enough for the corn planter. Or if someone has had a couple different brands and which holds up the best and has best seed bed. We use a chopping corn head so sizing residue is not an issue. Just need a level planting surface. I’m interested in the new Landoll VT 7500 with adjustable gang angle. Too new though for any reviews I’m sure.

SCWisconsin | I think there are a number of ‘best’ vertical till machines. All depends on what your farm environment / practices are. I really like the job my Great Plains Turbo Till does. The next guy may not be after what I am, or agree. I farm hills, with my share of shallow soil areas. My operation is 85% no-till. So for me; it does the following. Fall Pass: 1). Does not bring up rocks. 2). Does not make hillsides ‘black’, but incorporates stalks well enough for break down, plus don’t blow away. True vertical till with no side movement of soil. 2). Makes a very consistent seed bed for soybeans. Really mellow in the spring. 3). Provides excellent conditions for ‘row cleaning’ on 20” rows. (Martins with gauge wheels). I have come to really like row cleaning narrower beans. Seems I get better stand with less seed. Not possible in my conditions and practices if it were not for vertical till pass. I will admit, I was teed off when I found out the next year Great Plains came out with the adjustable gangs. I would have had jobs for that feature on my low ground. My machine won’t make black dirt, or level, or tear weeds out, a deal breaker for some guys. Lastly, guys with deep ground would probably make a different machine choice.

South Western Ontario, Canada | Used a 330 for 5 years exclusively for working ground. Its done excellent for us. Didn't have good luck with the 335 and actually sold it and bought another 330.

Ottawa, Ontario | I would skip the whole VT thing and just get a good Sunflower Disc More versatile, more durable, they can be set to run shallow and do a very level job, more durable, wider but run a bit slower. Did I mention more durable?

Central Nebraska | I just demoed a Landoll 7530 adjustable gang vt ,29 'and weighed 28000 lbs, very well built. The gangs can adjust from 5 degrees to 15 degrees and could even be adjusted on the go.I ran it about 3-4 inches deep and pulled it with a JD 8430 mfwd at 7.5 mph. What I liked was the versatility to bury residue, or run blades straighter and leave it on top.

K River, Was it behind a chopping or non-chopping cornhead? Did it knock all the stalks down and pull up the corn crowns?

Central Nebraska | It was behind a JD chopping head, and yes if you ran it at 12-15 degrees it would take out the root balls, if you ran it about 4.5-5 "deep it would even take out gravity irrigation ridges.
