IA | Looking at trading for a bigger skid loader. Have either a 2015 Sv250 with 370 hrs. or a new SV280. The 250 has electric controls where you can switch between H and pilot. The 280 would have manual controls in H only. I have run the electric on the 250 and seems to jump around a lot. I am coming from foot petals so it may just take some getting used to. What is better electric? or manual controls? Seems like the electric jerks. Going to try and run a manual and see if I can tell a difference. Thanks.

north-central Indiana west of Fulton | Have manual hand controls in our 1835C and 420. Can't see how anything else would be better or as trouble free. Years ago ran a foot controls NH of a neighbors and didn't care for it compared to manual hand controls.

Virginia | I went from nh foot controls to case manual hand controls. Tried electric but agree they are jerky. After an hour or so on manual hand controls you can run it with out even thinking first about which way you need to move the levers.

Central Iowa | If you are going to run it as pilot controls I would get the electric controls. If you want to run H pattern I would get the manual controls

I have had many people learn to run the Gehl's and they learn it quickly. Larry

Southeast iowa | My vote would be go with the electric controls and run pilot only way to go for grading they are so fast it takes a little getting use to but once you do you won't go back I have a 2015 tr320 love it

Middlesex County, Ontario | Pilot is not a pattern. H controls is a pattern. ISO controls is a pattern. There are different types of hydraulic valves. Mechanical Valves - you move the hydraulic valve directly. Electro-Hydraulic Valves - you move an electric joystick. A computer actuates electric solenoids. Electric Solenoids move the valve. Pilot Valves - you move tiny little hydraulic valves with the joystick. Those tiny little valves move tiny little pistons. Those tiny little pistons move the main valve. The tiny little pistons are all built into the main valve. Pilot controls give you the feedback and instant response of mechanical valves, but save your wrists like electro-hydraulic valves. There's also no computer to deal with. Edited by WildBuckwheat 10/28/2017 16:02

IA | So which do you recommend? Glad you straightened me out on the technicalities also. Edited by JMH 10/28/2017 21:13

Central indiana | I went from NH to Case. I miss the " forward lift" of the NH when topping off the spreader but the controls all being in my hands is easier on my back. I think that with the feet controls that I don't brace myself back with my feet when they are on control pedals.

Sunnyside, WA | We had an SR200 with electronic controls. Everyone hated it. It was horrible. I grew up on Case and I couldn't drive it in tight quarters. Traded for an SR210 with mechanical controls and the whole crew loves it. I won't ever buy electric controls in a Case again
