Subject: 7810 throttle question?

East Central Saskatchewan
I was running my father-in-laws 7810 on the auger today and when I started to throttle up, I noticed you had to use quite a bit of force to move the throttle, and then if you let the pressure off it would push back a bit then stop. Is this normal? Never owned a tractor like this and only driven it a couple of times. I'm an pre 90's Case guy.

Those use a really overengineered throttle handle, rod, bellcrank, cable, and finally a lever on the injection pump. There's even more pieces if it has foot throttle option. A new cable and lubricating all the pivot points will help, but they were never great, even when new, in my opinion.

Ok, I will tell him about that. It does have the foot throttle option also. He probably won't do anything about it but is good to mention.

The foot throttle area is where you should concentrate your efforts. Dirt collects in the spring mechanism

Pretty common exhaust elbow breaks blast hot air on throttle and ruins that at the same time.

not sure if foot throttle is same setup as 7210 tractor, 7810 we ran had the electronic throttle wheel like 8000 serie. But our issue like other poster mentoned is dirt arounf foot peddle, like stone or something, as it pulls the floor peddle down as well when using hand throttle

Yes, that would make sense. I never noticed it pulled down the foot pedal as well, makes sense since some of the older models with foot throttle do the same thing.

Put a little helper spring on the injection pump throttle arm, helps pull the throttle cable/makes it easier to push in the cab.

Mine has the bosch pump and that spring worked for me, there's 3 different pump styles on 7810's.
