Anybody have any experience with a JD 3155? It would be used for spraying and maybe pulling a round baler. There's one for sale in my area with 3000 hours, cab, a/c, 4x4. Looks to be in real nice shape. Good tires as well. What's it worth, if it's worth having ?

Those are the Germany built utility type tractors. Some folks seem to get along real well with those tractors, I personally like the Waterloo built tractors better. The 55 series should be the best series of those, if you want to try one. Hydraulic issues are one of their weaknesses, but the later models do seem to be better. Cooling systems weren't as robust as their Waterloo cousins, no park, etc.

We have a 2955 that we pulled a 8-30 planter and cultivated with, feed wagon in winter. Has been a very good tractor with 14k hours. Would be nice to have FWA on ours, for winter feed wagon on stalks.

Can't help on price.

Had one for many years and agree with other comments. Was I sorry to see it leave? No, but didn't really have major issues either. Hyd are weak, has dry clutch, and transmission is not as handy. But sounds like the one your looking at is low hours. I wouldn't want one for hard pulls. But it started well and was pretty handy. Price wise, I also can't help much.

Very nimble tractors with good visibility. We had 265 loaders on ours, the dry clutch was a huge issue in that role. Round baler you'll also be clutching often, but it shouldn't be as big a problem. We had a few electrical gremlins but nothing serious. I remember having slave cylinder (think thats what it was) issues a couple times. They have a hand parking brake.

WY, OK

If no loader and as clean as it should be with those few hours I'd say $25K-$30K.  We had several German 50 and 40 series tractors more good than bad and once we got people to quit riding the clutch in the 50 series those problem went away.  I'd rather have a 5K-7K hour 7000 series for $30K though if you could find one.

I can remember as a kid when the 3155 was marketed as a newer version of the 4020. Never been around one so I know absolutely nothing about them. I just remember the ads in farm magazines.

A 3155 is 10x better than our new 6135E. The 3155 will ride better and it's a 6 cylinder. Nice transmission too. Worth 25 to 30,000 around here with those hours.

Had one on a loader owned it from 1996 till 2011. Had 13k hours when we traded for a 7730. Worked great very nimble very very under powered though. We replaced trans, rearend, whole front differential, hyd pump twice, and cosmeticly it was about a 1 on a scale of 1 to 10. Tough tractor but not having park was a major inconvenience. Hydraulic was weak and would overheat bad when used in contiueous flow like sprayer pump. Electronic nightmare but somehow ran fine without any gauges. Tough tractor but in no way would i ever pay 30k for another one. I would buy a 9k hr 4055 or 4250 or better yet a 4450 or 4455 before I would consider a 3155 again. Take it for what it is I spent years too long in one

had a 3255 bought new ran to 14000 hours had a couple clutches, and a head gasket! awesome tractor, super super fuel efficient( I believe it has a 359 diesel with a turbo) Id say the downfalls would be dry clutch and the hydraulics weren't super! Loved the tractor all in all! It was an MFWD and never spent a dime on the front end!

X100 on this. Those German utility type tractors aren't bad tractors, but they aren't built like the Waterloo tractors. They are fuel efficient for easy jobs like loader work, haying, etc. The dry clutch is a minus, especially for loader work. Underpowered is an understatement if you are used to a 466 or 7.6L. A 4250 or 40/4255 is a lot better tractor if you ever want to do some heavier work. Wet clutch to boot. Used prices will reflect this, lol. Especially the 4055. Not many of them around.

A 4250 or 40/4255 can easily run all day at 150+ hp. Try that with a 55 series utility type tractor, LOL.

I have a BIL with a 4250 2wd, PS that has run at 200 hp. for the last 25 years and 10,000 hours, ever since he bought it used at 1600 hrs. It's been rode hard and put away wet, too. Sorry maintenance and never shown any mercy. I pity the poor tractor. Still ticking!!!
