Subject: BullPull Hitch for Grain Cart: UPDATE

SCMN

I had been asking on here months back about getting a BullPull style hitch for a grain cart with a round weigh bar on the tongue.  I did locate one that was previously used by Unverferth, made by Scale Tech I believe.  They had stopped using these and I can see why, they aren't heavy enough and would not allow proper oscillation.

What I eventually came up with was an adapter made by J&M to adapt the BullPull hitch as posted here:

https://talk.newagtalk.com/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=574653&DisplayType=flat&setCookie=1

The adapter was about $350 and the hitch was about $400.  I had to grind a little bit off the back side of the adapter to make it fit my weigh bar, maybe 1/8".  It makes the hitch about 6" longer.  I have about 14" of PTO shaft overlap when straight which I am told will be ok even though the manufacturer calls for 16", I guess we will find out.  Just wanted to post this for others to see.

I've always been surprised that big heavy stuff doesn't come standard with something like a Bull pull hitch. Or, a 2 pt. See more towable stuff on 2 and 3pt mounts all the time, which I like.

won't the longer hitch throw off the reading from the weigh bar?

Original hitches are clevis style. Bull pulls won't work with weigh bars. Did not know J n M made an adaptor.

Not sure what kind of cart you have but I just got the same style hitch from scale tech but it just looks like the front part of your hitch and doesn't have the big extra back half when I ordered the scale kit for our cart that slides right on the round bar weigh bar.

If you had the bull pull sitting next to the scale tech hitch you would understand. It's WAAAAY heavier built. And it has the bushing that holds it up off the drawbar so it can freely pivot.

Southwest Manitoba
Our rt has the same drawbar. Very strong for the cart I think it must be factory but we bought the tractor slightly used and it came with it.
