WCIL | I spray with a 6430 and a hydraulic sprayer pump. When the outside temperature gets above 90 the hydraulic oil gets hot and warming light comes on. The hydraulic cooler is small and is mounted by itself in front of the radiator. I asked the service manager about a bigger oil cooler and he didn't have any solution. It seems like a larger oil cooler should solve the problem. How would I get this done? I would like to hear from someone who has had this problem and solved it. |

Fulton County Ohio | You are running an open center hydraulic system. Do you have the correct orifice restricting flow to the sprayer? That tractor has two water pumps. One for the engine and one for the tranny. The one to the tranny can air lock and cause overheating. If a hydraulic lever is engaged but oil is not allowed to flow on this model it will overheat. I assume all your radiators and screens are clean. Good luck |

| Yes check to make sure you have the right orifice for the hydraulic pump on the sprayer. |

Panhandle of Ne. | If possible, turn the hyd flow down as low as possible so that everything will still work properly and see if that helps. Did that I on my r series tractor yesterday and it helped a lot |

Faunsdale, AL | X2. ......check that the bypass screw is backed out on the hydraulic motor of the spray pump. Running the motor doesn't heat the oil up per se, its the excess flow going through the system relief valve and the whole system operating at relief pressure that causes the extra heat. If the motor bypass cannot be opened up enough to keep the pressure down, a flow divider installed in the circuit to the motor might be required.
The other question is are you somehow bypassing the oil cooler the way you have the return flow from the motor plumbed into the tractor.
Check the application instructions for the spray pump. The manufacturer probably has a solution.

| Had same problem with our 6415(I know ,smaller pump) but the problem was a leaking valve in the rear . It took Deere 3 weeks & many thousands of dollars to figure it out. |

NE Kansas | Our 6430 did the exact same thing last year on hot days. Didn't do anything to it and it did it again this year one day. The 6430 has a bad habit of getting an airlock in the water system resulting in not cooling properly. The temporary cure is to burp the system. There is a metric allen head plug under the radiator just to the right of center. Turn the plug loose and run the tractor watching the overflow tank, do not let it get low or you will have to repeat the process. We have had to do this several times over the years. I don't know yet if it cured our hot hydraulic oil problem yet. |
