Have any of yall put a fan to blow on the knotters on a small square baler?
If so what worked good.My baler collects a lot of debris on them.

Watching this post.

Have kicked around two ideas, one electric and one belt drive furnace fan, and a third, random blast from air compressor, all still in planning stage!

I keep a leaf blower nearby. I blow the whole baler off at the end of every day. I can't really recall any Knotter trouble from the accumulated chaff except maybe when baling some wet rye with big baler. I did see this if you are having trouble.

The massey 1840 inline baler has a fan from factory, must help some if they have them from factory. Not sure How you would go about mounting one.

We had a vac fan from a 1770 Deere planter on the last small square baler we had. Worked great. J

I put a fan on my old Freeman 200, a cheap (25-30$ IIRC) one from Amazon. A bit of backyard engineering for a mount, and the knotters are always clear. Fan was 12v, run off the battery for the engine on the baler. I like having the knotter fan, can't tell you if it really does anything of value. I do know that knotter fans were options on Freeman balers, so they must help.

We always used 12v automotive fans on our freeman 370 balers. The newer baler had it from the factory and the older one we added the fan. Fan blows down and back over the knotters. Really helps keep the knotters clean and working good.

Here's pic. I would look for a high cfm fan also. Probably needs to over the top of the knotter assembly a lil more but works good. I haven't seen where Hesston is mounted and angle.

Radiator fan fan from local parts store. I think oem on balers are hydraulic driven.
