Just got a 8 row 30 inch row 7200 vacuum planter. When raising the planter on the end, The right side marker slams pretty hard when raising up. The hydraulics are slowed down. The left side bangs a little when raising. Should I shorten the right side cable ? Deere doesn't have a rubber bumper there. Thanks for the help.

Here is my post about it with additional links to post, the valve and video of before and after. https://talk.newagtalk.com/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=549000 Get a hydraulic flow control valve that controls flow in one direction and plumb it to control flow raising marker. The orifice where the hose goes into the frame of the planter only controls drop rate. This way you can dial in the raise speed you want and take the slamming out of the markers. Works like a dream and saves a lot of abuse on the marker arm and steel bumper stop. Here is a close up of the valve courtesy of Surplus Center. Here is the photo album you should be able to click on the .wmv files and they will play directly without having to download. http://imageevent.com/vprb/hydraulicmarkerflowcontrol (Valve.JPG) Attachments ---------------- Valve.JPG (24KB - 155 downloads)

210 Industrial Dr., Arlington Wisconsin 53911 | Could be wrong but I haven't seen a 7200 style planter with cable markers. Are you talking about a 7000?

No I have a early 7200 standard planter 6 row with cable markers. Not sure about original posters machine but the valve I mentioned would work for a 7000 also to keep from slamming markers up.

210 Industrial Dr., Arlington Wisconsin 53911 | Von Right you are about a 4 or 6 row conventional frame with cable markers but he has an 8 row. All 7200 8 rows and larger all had hydraulic markers with the ram in the marker arm. 7000 8 rows were cable.

Probably my mistake I saw he mentioned shortening the cable and I thought of internal cable while he probably was referring to cable that lets the longer marker fold in the middle. At any rate the valve I mentioned should still work to control the flow bringing the marker up and stopping the slamming action that he is seeing.
