I have a newly mounted atu in a 4850 john deere and it seems like the front wheels are constantly moving from side to and accuracy is off. Is there any settings that I can change to make it not so sensitive or wander so much any help is greatly appreciated. TIA

A: Refer to the AutoTrac Universal Quick Reference

Guide that came with your AutoTrac Universal System,

or print it off from the www.StellarSupport.com website.

It defines these and other terms:

Steer speed is how fast the ATU wheel turns.

Acquire sensitivity is how aggressively the unit drives

to the line.

Line Sensitivity Tracking is used to keep the lateral

error low. If your machine gets offline up to a foot, the

Tracking Sensitivity may be set too low.

Line Sensitivity Heading adjusts how much the unit

corrects for heading error. If you see a lot of left and

right steering, the Heading Sensitivity may be set too

high.

This document should help:

https://www.deere.co.uk/common/docs/services_and_support/stellarsupp...

I'm frustrated to admit that dispite being on our fourth season using an ATU 200 on a 2WD 4455 I haven't found a combination of settings that makes it perform as well as it did when mounted on our 8320 MFWD. I suspect part of the challenge is the short distance the JD mounting bracket places the Starfire receiver ahead of the rear axle. I recall seeing someone on NAT posting a custom mounting that placed the receiver at the front of the Soundgard cab like the newer tractors, but I didn't save the post.

Update:
With help from Google I was able to find the post:

Try changing your steering sensitivity it can be a big jump to for ex had a 9200 doing it, it was at 90 set it to 120 seemed to really smooth it out

Central Wisconsin
Make your adjustments for the speed you intend to run. You can get things really good and tight for a slower speed and then it will go wild if you run a bunch faster.
