Am I the only one that can't make one of these work. We have two of them and they are a constant headache. They are extremely hard to prime after installing a new cartridge, lose prime about half way through a cartridge and often times don't build enough pressure to put grease into areas that require a little more pressure. Have sent them back to Milwaukee and they come back exact same way they left. About $320 a set I would expect a little more.

Both of ours work fine.

Is it the grease?

There is a button in front to bleed the air out, but I suspect you know that.

There is a way you can lock onto the plunger to push it in manually when it gets an air bubble in the middle of the tube. Ours will do that every few tubes. Pull the plunger, then turn it and push a bit and feel if it locked onto the plunger so you can push on it and bleed the air out.

I have a Milwaukee and my brother in law has a Lincoln. After using them both, I'd say Milwaukee makes better cordless tools, and Lincoln makes better grease guns. Mine is like yours, but seems to be getting a little better with some age.

I just ordered my second one yesterday, I like them because it's the sane battery as my tools, I've put over a100 tubes through mine but a couple weeks ago it wasn't pumping that great I took the tube off and cleaned out the piston pump, air bleed and the spring nut off the front side and it works like a brand new one, mine is 18 volt

Have two that I like really well. We use them in the high pressure areas because they generate so much. No complaints.

We have 6 of them and no issues so far. I always leave the tube a 1/2 turn loose. Seems to let air out and always primes right up. Not sure if it's a solution to your issue or not.

Just got mine back from sending it for the third time and it's only two years old. I really hope it's fixed haven't had a chance to use it yet. Had a Lincoln 3 years and no problem with it it just finally got destroyed. Bought the milwaulkie cuz it was supposed to be better. So far that is wrong .

I had this problem with mine also. There was something wrong with plunger. When it would get partially empty the rubber on plunger would get cocked sideways and get in a bind. I found by using the canister off of another grease gun

I have found that if I get the tube threaded in one turn and I push the plunger in before tightening it primes better. When I was having trouble midway through a tube I wasn't storing them vertically. When I started storing them vertically I had a lot less problems.

If this doesn't help try a different brand of grease and see if that makes a difference.

I have one that started acting like that. I figured there must be something wrong inside, so I took it apart. There's a small o-ring in the priming piston that was worn. I think I ordered one from ereplacementparts.com. Works like new now. You might be able to find an o-ring that fits off the shelf somewhere. It's very small

Our Milwaukee might be the easiest grease gun we have owned to prime. Old tube out, new tube in and good to go. Our works great. Priming my dewalt grease gun is another story.

I have found this is the only way to prime mine:

Put in new tube and screw tube holder on half way. With the plunger handle still out, I press the bleed button at the top of the gun. Hold that open and push the plunger handle in. Let go of the button once the handle is all the way in. Last, tighten the tube holder. Had a heck of a time the first couple tubes. Now it primes up in just a couple shots.

If half way through the tube you get air, just do like you did loading it. First pull the handle back until it hits resistance (don't try to pull it back all the way, this will only suck more air it). Next loosen the tube holder. Then hold the bleed button in and push the handle in. Let go of the bleed button and tighten the tube holder.

Here's the part. It's actually not an o-ring, but rather a very small seal in a metal ring like a wheel bearing seal.

I have three of them and no issues so far. They are the easiest grease guns to prime that I have. The Lincoln I had before was so hard to prime that I usually just grabbed the hand grease gun.

We bought a new Milwaukee and couldn't get it to work, they exchanged for another one and couldn't get it to work either so they let us have a dewalt instead and that works great.

I'm also wondering if its the grease.

We have 2 of the 18 volt ones, I bought them three years ago. They work awesome. We use only Cenex ML365 in them, if that matters.

I have a M18 and it works well. Keep the tubes stored verticle and the plunger end up. never a priming problem with them. Best greaser I ever had.

My 18m Milwaukee is the best grease gun I have ever owned. I ve never had an issue priming or with anything else. If I could only find a tip that last, even the lock and lube coupler was a waste of money.

Just below where the hose screws into the gun, there is a plug to take out and there is a little metal ball inside there. Take it out and clean it and put it back together. My grease gun was doing the exact same thing. My Milwaukee dealer told me how to fix it and it's worked great ever since. I was about ready to throw that grease gun away before I cleaned that metal ball.

Ours works flawlessly , cold or hot weather. We use only a few brands of grease, like Shell or John Deere. Have you tried using a different grease for the heck of it?

We have 2 12 volt Milwaukee guns and an 18 volt DeWalt, and someplace is an old blue Lincoln.  I think the Lincoln was designed by a grease company because it inevitably wasted half the grease we put in it.  We've had almost no trouble with the Milwaukee or DeWalt guns.

On a side note we always store out grease tubes standing up. I have an old milk crate I throw in the Mule servicing irrigators with spare grease, oil, etc in it and we wired the bottom of a plastic bottle in the corner to keep the grease upright.  Almost never have a priming problem with any gun, electric or manual.

Thats the same grease we are using so its good to know thats maybe not our problem, we will have to try storing our tubes upright once and see if that will help. Thanks for the input

I know it wouldn't work for everyone but I have my Milwaukee set up for bulk grease, get grease in a 135 lb keg which is equivalent to about 160 tubes, obviously have to fill in the shop all the time (not an issue for me) as you can fill it when empty or 1/2 full and you never unscrew the tube to introduce air, have just about emptied the barrel and NEVER once had air in the gun also never have a mess as it is a clean easy to use setup, I have a Lincoln hand pump on the "barrel" works awesome, the grease is not any cheaper by the time you buy the barrel pump, but the advantages far out weigh the costs in my opinion.

We dont have trouble priming but have had bad luck with the two speed. We have three of them and they have all been sent back once for repair of the two speed, it almost acts like it doesnt fully engage (we always make sure the switch is all the way forward after the issues we have had) because it will work for a while and then quit, after a couple times like this then the high speed wont work at all. Currently out of three, none of them have a high speed option. Has any one else had this issue?

I have 2. The oldest one has worked flawlessly from day one for at least 4-5 yrs, the other one I bought last year loses prime, won't take a prime etc, took it to their repair center and it seemed to work fine for about 6 months, I was using it a couple weeks ago and it made a popping noise and just plain went dead no matter which battery I put in. Not sure whether to sent it in or throw it in the dumpster.
