Saskatchewan, Canada | Just a question on these pumps, mine has a small seep from the front seal behind the pulley. Can the pulley be removed and just the seal replaced? and how does one remove the pulley. (Cummins V-903 Water pump.jpg) Attachments ---------------- ![]()

michigan | The hub is pressed on the shaft. A puller will remove it but be careful when pressing it back on, you will need to machine a plate that holds the impeller straight but puts the pressure on the end of the shaft only. Really not that difficult but if you are as far as the seal you might as well change bearings too, they are not anything special.

North Dakota | In general the reason the seal is leaking is because the bearings are failing. I'm not sure on the 903 but for a N14 or 855 the bearing kit is only $20- $30 less than a reman pump.

On that pump and some other cummins water pumps you can take out the small plug and put in a grease nipple. ....that will enhance the bearings life by a fair bit thus seals will last alot longer 2 pumps with grease gun every 2 or 3 months

If you are getting coolant out the seal... it's time for a rebuild. The main coolant seal is behind two bearings. Coolant is now contaminated your grease. I just rebuilt mine 1 year ago. I SCOURED the earth for a rebuilt pump. "sorry, obsolete". Interstate McBee offers a kit. You'll get EVERYTHING. Bearings, seals, impeller, shaft, snap rings...
If you need, I can scan the rebuild process to you. Lots of press work, and I could loan you the seal depth setting tool.
Edit; #9 shows a grease seal. In the kit, the bearings are self contained sealed. The original oem bearings were open both sides. I popped out the inboard seals, and allowed for grease to flow into bearing, Edited by rancherman 3/24/2017 09:31 (img008.jpg) Attachments ---------------- ![]()

Mount Vernon, WA | If the seep is nothing more than a big stain, and if the bearings are smooth and tight, I would not mess with it. A very small amount of leakage is allowed, as per Cummins.

Saskatchewan, Canada | Thanks for the info, I think I may take it out and into the Cummins service center near home as I don't have a shop press. Probably will cost a small fortune though.
