IMO J.D.s became more ugly when the 8000 series were introduced and have never regained their looks.

I always like the 3020, 4230, and 4450 when they first come out with each model... Now I have one of each of the last year that they made them and love the looks of each....

Because they're mine. '68 4020 powershift, '54 70 gas, 4840, and though its not a tractor, a freshly painted '78 6600 diesel combine with RWA.

4320 would be my first choice. I really like the 630s and 730s also. But I haven't seen a green tractor I didn't like.

That is a mean looking 4840. I really like the 6600 combine too.

Old for me is the 40/50 series. Loved driving our 4450 PS.
I really like our 8520 and 7930 for newer tractors. I know some guys think the 8x20s are ugly, but I think they look pretty mean!

Got one of these. Love it. Outta be a category for best sounding engines. This would walk away with it!

The 4960 is for sure in the top 5. What a fine looking specimen of a tractor.

The A in the shed that belonged to my great grandfather is a sentimental fav.

Yep, I always liked G's, styled or un...went out to help a guy get the years on his tractors to get ready to sell them. He was retiring & selling the place. I saw the G & commented I always wanted one. He called me when he was having his sale & said "I put a sold sign on the G, it's yours"...I complained I had enough projects already, but he was determined I should have it. So there it is...

PS: I sprayed the whole thing with WD-40 before the fall parade last year...made a nice patina on the rust. :)

Yes! It definitely has that "more power" rumble. I took a video square baling some heavy wet hay last year with the door open... sounds awesome.

Guymon, OK

frytownfarmer, I always love seeing pics of your 4620, even if I've seen them before. I don't know what it is--maybe it's the modern tires, black muffler (instead of a chrome straight pipe), or the fact that it actually gets used and isn't a parade queen, but it just looks right.

I think my favorite Deeres are the large-frame 55-60 series, as long as they're sitting on the right rubber (i.e. a 4960 on 18.4x42s sits low in the back and looks kind of goofy, but 46s fill up the wheel well and makes it sit level). The different glass makes the cab look smoother than the older series, and I like the decals better than the 50-series.

The right rear tires and size does make a difference!
